Friday’s WWE SmackDown drew an average of 2,499,000 overnight viewers on FOX, up from last week’s 2,047,000 overnight viewers.
It drew a 0.60 rating in the 18-49 demographic, up from last week’s 0.55.
Hourly breakdown:
– Hour 1: 2,575,000
– Hour 2: 2,422,000
Last year’s SmackDown on August 14, 2020 drew 1,979,000 viewers.
Dave Meltzer noted that the reason for the unusually high number may be because FOX aired preseason NFL games in several markets during SmackDown’s time slot, which likely skewed the preliminary overnight number. The final SmackDown rating should be out on Monday.
For those who saw Smackdown overnight as 2.499 million, that includes viewers of NFL games on FOX stations in a number of markets. It’s of no significance and won’t be for all Fridays with preseason games. Real number won’t be out for several days taking those viewers out.
