More on WWE NXT Viewership for September 28th

The September 28th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT suffer a large decrease in both overall viewership and key demographic ratings.

NXT drew 655,000 viewers and a 0.14 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that night was 32nd place.

Detailed demographic and quarter-hours breakdowns were not available in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for NXT’s decline this week was due to the large declines suffered in their overall female key demographic viewership, which was down 67.5% in Females 18-34 and down 33.8% in Females 35-49. Another reason was due to the much lower than usual Teenagers demographic viewership, which was down 50% compared to last week’s show. Meltzer also reported that NXT’s Females 12-34 rating of 0.03 was the lowest ever since the move to the USA Network.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 185,000 viewers. All four of NXT’s key demographic groups were down with the biggest being their Females 18-34 group at 67.5% lower than last week’s show.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was down 10.5% in overall viewership and down 26.3% in key demographic viewership.


More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for September 29th

The September 29th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a large decrease in overall viewership and a small decrease in key demographic ratings.

AEW drew 1,152,000 viewers and a 0.45 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for this week’s show was 1st place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s decline this week was due to their lower than usual female key demographic and overall younger key demographic viewership groups, the latter being down 22.8% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, The Challenge drew 646,000 viewers on MTV and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drew 1,156,000 viewers on Bravo.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, all eight of AEW’s quarter-hours averaged over one million viewers. The highest being their second quarter at around 1,223,000 viewers and their lowest being their fourth and sixth quarter at around 1,104,000 viewers each.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 588,000 viewers. AEW’s sole increase was with their Males 35-49 group at 7.6% higher than last week’s show. AEW’s biggest decrease was with their Females 18-34 group at 35.4% lower than last week’s show.

In an interesting note, Meltzer reported that AEW’s show this week managed to top this past Monday’s WWE’s RAW show in Males 18-49 by around 50,000 viewers and in Teenagers by around a 0.02 rating at 0.19 for AEW compared to a 0.17 for RAW. AEW’s show also managed to top the prior week Friday’s WWE SmackDown show in Males 18-49 by around 2,000 viewers.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was up 33% in overall viewership and up 37.4% in key demographic viewership.

AEW Dynamite started off with around 1,210,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the Ruby Soho & Britt Baker video promo package, the 16-Man Tag Team match of Orange Cassidy & Dark Order vs. Hardy Family Office, and the Lio Rush promo vignette which gained 44,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the end of the Elite & Bryan Danielson promo segment, the Lucha Brothers & Andrade backstage segment, and the bulk of the Cody Rhodes & Lee Johnson vs. Matt Sydal & Dante Martin match which lost 99,000 viewers.


More on AEW Rampage Viewership for September 24th

The September 24th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW suffer a slight decrease in overall viewership and a slight increase in key demographic viewership. That week’s show was notable for being the Rampage Grand Slam 2-hour special.

AEW Rampage drew 640,000 viewers and a 0.29 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for this week’s show was 1st and 4th place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW Rampage’s small decline this week was due to the second hour of the show dragged the overall numbers down by a lot. Meltzer reported that the overall first to second hour viewership drops were 29.4% for Females 18-49, 18.8% for Males 18-49, 10.6% for Female Teenagers, and 32.4% for Over 50 group. Male Teenagers reportedly was the only group to increase from the first to second hour viewership at 24.3%.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the MLB game of New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox drew 846,000 viewers on ESPN, the 2021 Ryder Cup drew 1,480,000 viewers on the Golf Channel, and the College Football game of Wake Forest Demon Deacons vs. Virginia Cavaliers drew 1,113,000 viewers on ESPN 2.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 376,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest increase was with their Males 18-34 group at 51.8% higher than the prior week’s show. AEW’s biggest decline was with their Females 35-49 group at 32.4% lower than the prior week’s show.

AEW Rampage started off with around 739,000 viewers and had around 750,000 viewers for its second quarter, around 697,000 viewers for its third quarter, around 654,000 viewers for its fourth quarter, around 657,000 viewers for its fifth quarter, around 543,000 for its sixth quarter, around 503,000 viewers for its seventh quarter, and around 506,000 viewers for its main event quarter featuring the Lights Out match of Jon Moxley & Eddie Kingston vs. Lance Archer & Minoru Suzuki.
