Cody Rhodes’ AEW Contract Status Update

As noted before, Cody Rhodes’ contract with AEW expired at the end of 2021.

Following this past Wednesday’s Beach Break 2022 themed Dynamite show in Cleveland, Ohio, AEW held a backstage interview with Rhodes. One of the topics discussed included Rhodes confirming that the reports of his AEW contract had expired are true but also revealed that he is currently working under a handshake type deal with the company.

“It’s paradise, right? There are so many elephants in the room. This is an insane week in wrestling. People think that the Sean Ross story is BS, it’s not. I’m working here without a contract. I’m not even on payroll anymore. I’m working here on a handshake deal. That is 100% legitimate, I swear on Pharaoh’s life.”
