William Regal Comments on His Release from WWE

As noted before, WWE released several staff from their NXT brand and Performance Center earlier this week. Among the notable people released included William Regal.

Regal recently reflected on Twitter about his time and career in WWE.

“Thank you to @WWE for a wonderful 21 year run. You gave a lad who was happy and in wonderland wrestling on a carnival have a charmed life for 21 years. No complaints and please no one waste time replying as I won’t have a bad work said against the company.I will add that @WWE saved my life in 1999 when they didn’t need to, kept my family fed and took me all around the world. You have my gratitude forever. You allowed me to live a charmed life.”

In regards to Regal’s release, Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that many within NXT and the Performance Center were very depressed over his release due to Regal being well respected in the industry and someone who helped get many their jobs and chances in the company.

Kairi Sane Contract Status Update

Kairi Sane’s contract with WWE is currently set to expire next month, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that Sane recently had given the public impression that she will not be signing new deal once her current contract expires this February.

Meltzer reported that WWE officials wanted Sane to renew her contract and travel back to the United States to resume working for the company but Sane refused due to her not wanting to leave Japan.

Sane’s last appearance for the company was in July of 2020 and has been working under an ambassador type role in Japan since then.

WALTER’s Final NXT UK Appearance Announced, Moving Full Time to NXT

WWE recently announced that WALTER will be making his farewell appearance for their NXT UK brand on the January 13th episode of NXT UK. WALTER will be facing off against Nathan Frazier in a singles match on the show.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WALTER is currently in the process of moving to the United States to work full-time for WWE’s NXT brand. Meltzer reported that the reason why WALTER became more open to moving away from his home in Europe is due to him having a new girlfriend who is also a wrestler.

WALTER’s original deal with WWE reportedly included terms that allowed him to work only part-time in the United States for the company due to him not wanting to move away from his home in Europe due to family related reasons.
