More on WWE NXT Viewership for February 1st

The February 1st episode of WWE NXT saw NXT gain a small increase in overall viewership and key demographic ranking but suffered a slight drop in key demographic ratings.

NXT drew 619,000 viewers and a 0.13 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that night was 39th place.

Detailed demographic and quarter-hours breakdowns were not available in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for NXT’s mixed results this week was due to the large gains from their over 50 viewership group, which was up 4.4% compared to last week’s show. This was enough to offset the large declines from their younger key demographic viewership groups, which was down 25% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA basketball game of Washington Wizards vs. Milwaukee Bucks drew 779,000 viewers on TNT, the College basketball game of Kansas Jayhawks vs. Iowa State Cyclones drew 750,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Arkansas Razerbacks drew 753,000 viewers on ESPN, Real Housewives of New Jersey drew 1,099,000 viewers on Bravo, and Wipeout drew 580,000 viewers on TBS.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 170,000 viewers. NXT’s Males 18-34 was up 10%, Females 18-34 was down 47.6%, Males 35-49 was down 4.8%, and Females 35-49 was up 25% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was up 1.6% in overall viewership and down 13.7% in key demographic viewership.


More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for February 2nd

The February 2nd episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a large drop in overall viewership and key demographic ratings and a slight drop in key demographic rankings.

AEW drew 954,000 viewers and a 0.35 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 3rd place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines this week was due to the lower than usual lead-in programming viewership on TBS, large decline in Teenagers viewership group which was down 28.6% compared to last week’s show, and their lower than usual male key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that due to the large drops in AEW’s male key demographic viewership, their streak of six weeks in a row of topping WWE’s RAW show in Males 18-49 was snapped.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Memphis Grizzles vs. New York Knicks drew 1,268,000 viewers on ESPN, South Park drew 844,000 viewers on Comedy Central, the 2022 World Cup Qualifier game of United States vs. Honduras drew 843,000 viewers on FS1, and the NHL game of Edmonton Oilers vs. Washington Capitals drew 275,000 viewers on TNT.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 456,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was down 20.4% Females 18-34 was up 11.1%, Males 35-49 was down 19.6%, and Females 35-49 was down 13.6% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of the million viewership milestone, only one out of AEW’s eight quarter hours averaged one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak was at 1,096,000 viewers for their first quarter. Meltzer reported in Friday’s Daily Update that AEW’s peak viewership in terms of minutes was at 1.1 million during the Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson promo segment. Meltzer also reported that in terms of minutes, the CM Punk vs. MJF match managed to top over one million viewers on several occasions throughout it.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was up 13% in overall viewership and up 11.8% in key demographic viewership.

AEW Dynamite started off with around 1,096,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the middle part of the CM Punk vs. MJF match, which gained 37,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the Dan Lambert & Brandi Rhodes promo segment, which lost 138,000 viewers.


More on AEW Rampage Viewership for January 28th

The January 28th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a slight increases in overall viewership and key demographic ratings but suffered a small decline in key demographic ranking.

AEW Rampage drew 601,000 viewers and a 0.25 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show was 9th place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s mixed results that week was due to the larger than usual increases from their older key demographic viewership group, which was up 34.7% compared to the prior week’s show. This was enough to offset the larger than usual declines from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was down 47.7% compared to the prior week’s show. Meltzer reported that the overall viewership was the highest since the October 29th Rampage show and the overall key demographic viewership was the highest since the October 1st Rampage show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Los Angeles Lakers vs. Charlotte Hornets drew 1,347,000 viewers on ESPN, the NBA game of New York Knicks vs. Milwaukee Bucks drew 1,121,000 viewers on ESPN, and Gold Rush White Water drew 1,360,000 viewers on Discovery Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 323,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was down 45.5%, Females 18-34 was down 50%, Males 35-49 was up 23.7%, and Females 35-49 was up 59.3% compared to the prior week’s show. Meltzer reported that week’s Rampage show was the youngest skewing sports show for the week while that week’s Dynamite show was the second youngest.

AEW Rampage started off with around 625,000 viewers and had around 579,000 viewers for their second quarter, around 615,000 viewers for their third quarter, and around 561,000 viewers for their main event quarter featuring the AEW World Tag Team Championship of Private Party vs. Jurassic Express (c).
