WWE reportedly are still planning for Cody Rhodes to appear at next month’s WrestleMania 38 event, according to the Wrestling Observer Radio.
Dave Meltzer reported that his sources stated that WWE officials still are planning for Rhodes to face off against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38. Meltzer reported that this was the main reason why Rollins’ “path to WrestleMania” storyline was featured prominently throughout the show.
Despite the recent rumors, Rhodes did not make his official return during Monday’s episode of WWE RAW in Jacksonville, Florida but there was several subtle references to Rhodes throughout the show. These included Corey Graves mentioning on commentary that Rollins’ WrestleMania hopes had been “dashed” following his loss to Kevin Owens and his dream becoming a “nightmare.” Both of these terms have been part of nicknames used by Rhodes in the past, which are “Dashing” in WWE and “American Nightmare” in AEW and the indies.
Meltzer stated “The impression is that Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins is the WrestleMania match. He’s coming, that’s it. He’s coming. He’s wrestling Seth at WrestleMania unless something changes and I sure watched (last night’s Raw) not thinking anything’s changing.”
