More on WWE NXT Viewership for April 5th

The April 5th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT gain a slight increase in overall viewership but also suffered a slight decrease in key demographic rankings.

NXT drew 631,000 viewers and a 0.14 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that night was 23rd place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for NXT’s mixed results this week was due to the large declines from their older key demographic viewership group, which was down 15.7% compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the large gains NXT had from their Teenagers and younger key demographic viewership groups, which were up 25% and 24.3% respectively compared to last week’s show. Meltzer reported that despite the large gains in younger key demographic viewership, this week’s show had a median viewership age of 61 years old.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Milwaukee Bucks vs. Chicago Bulls drew 1,206,000 viewers on TNT, Curse of Oak Island drew 2,547,000 viewers on History Channel, and Real Housewives of Miami drew 372,000 viewers on Bravo.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 179,000 viewers. NXT’s Males 18-34 was up 34.5%, Females 18-34 was up 5%, Males 35-49 was down 15.9%, and Females 35-49 was down 15.2% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was down 17.8% in overall viewership and down 36.5% in key demographic viewership.


More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for April 6th

The April 6th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a slight increase in overall viewership and key demographic rankings.

AEW drew 989,000 viewers and a 0.38 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 2nd place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s increases this week was due the large gains from their younger female key demographic viewership group, which was up 20.7% compared to last week’s show. Despite the gains, Meltzer reported that this week’s show suffered from a lower than usual lead-in programming viewership on TBS which lead to a lower than usual first quarter hour viewership for the show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Brooklyn Nets vs. New York Knicks drew 1,305,000 viewers on ESPN, the NHL game of Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Washington Capitals drew 368,000 viewers on TNT, and Real Housewives of Orange County drew 790,000 viewers on Bravo.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 496,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was down 9%, Females 18-34 was up 20.7%, Males 35-49 was up 2.6%, and Females 35-49 was down 2.3% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, three out of AEW’s eight quarter hours averaged one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak was at 1,090,000 viewers for their second quarter and their low point was 950,000 for their sixth quarter.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was up 43.8% in overall viewership and up 35.5% in key demographic viewership.

AEW Dynamite started off with around 1,000,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the ending of the Adam Cole vs. Christian Cage match, the post-match brawl with reDRagon, Jurassic Express, & Hangman Adam Page, and the Samoa Joe vs. Max Caster match which gained 90,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the Blackpool Combat Club backstage interview segment and the Shawn Spears vs. Shawn Dean match which lost 131,000 viewers.


More on AEW Rampage Viewership for April 1st

The April 1st episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a small increase in overall viewership, a slight increase in key demographic ratings, and a large increase in key demographic rankings. That week’s episode was notable for going head-to-head against Tony Khan’s Ring of Honor Supercard of Honor XV event that night.

AEW Rampage drew 456,000 viewers and a 0.15 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show was 18th place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s increases that week was due to the large gains from their younger male key demographic viewership and older female key demographic viewership groups, which were up 46.4% and 63.6% respectively compared to the prior week’s show. Meltzer reported that despite the gains, that week’s show had a median viewership age of 51 years due to the large declines suffered in their Teenagers group and younger female key demographic viewership groups, which were down 28.6% and 51.7% respectively compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the 2022 NCAA Women’s Basketball tournament game of UConn vs. Stanford drew 3,110,000 viewers on ESPN, Gold Rush: Freddy Dodge drew 1,375,000 viewers on Discovery Channel, and Gold Rush: The Dirt drew 751,000 viewers on Discovery Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 193,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was up 46.4%, Females 18-34 was down 51.7%, Males 35-49 was down 9.8%, and Females 35-49 was up 63.6% compared to the prior week’s show. While the ranking for that week’s Rampage show was not given, Meltzer reported that week’s Dynamite show was the youngest skewing sports show for the week.

AEW Rampage started off with around 484,000 viewers and had around 448,000 viewers for their second quarter, around 438,000 viewers for their third quarter, and around 454,000 viewers for their main event quarter featuring the Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Keith Lee match.
