As noted before, CM Punk, Ace Steel, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks’ Matt and Nick Jackson were involved in a backstage fight incident following AEW’s All Out 2022 event this past September. Following the incident, AEW suspended all of them for an indefinite period of time. Steel was released from the company last week while Omega and the Young Bucks were recently teased to be returning to the company soon.
WrestlingInc.com’s Nick Hausman reported that those close to Punk stated that AEW has not contacted Punk since the incident and the reason for the silence from him was due to an agreement made between himself and AEW officials.
In regards to the All Out 2022 post-show scrum, those spoken to from Punk’s side stated that Punk’s controversial comments did not seem to be a big deal and things only escalated once Punk’s locker room door was “kicked in” accidentally hitting Punk’s dog Larry in the face. Hausman reported that Punk was informed during a pre-scheduled veterinarian appointment that Larry had two teeth knocked loose and had to be removed.
In regards to the rumored legal issues over the fight, Hausman reported that Punk had felt threatened during the incident and reacted in a legal way under Illinois’ Castle Doctrine laws, which allows the legal use of force by a person within one’s dwelling. Hausman also reported that as of the time of his report, there is no litigation against Punk from anyone involved in the incident.
In regards to Steel’s wife Lucy, Hausman reported that those spoken to from Punk’s side confirmed that she was in the room during the incident and stated that she has not been interviewed as part of AEW’s third party investigation into the matter.
In regards to Hangman Adam Page’s promo towards Punk during an episode of AEW Dynamite this past May, Hausman reported that Punk had distrust of Page following his comments going into their AEW World Championship match at AEW’s Double or Nothing 2022 event this past May. Punk reportedly was concerned that their match would break down into a real physical fight.
