As noted before, AEW recently signed Saraya, former Paige in WWE, to an official contract with the company. Saraya made her official debut for AEW at their Dynamite Grand Slam 2022 event this past September. Following her signing, Saraya was believed to not be medically cleared yet for a potential in-ring return from her neck injury, which has kept her out of action since 2017 and her in-ring retirement from WWE.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that AEW’s medical staff recently officially medically cleared Saraya for in-ring action. Meltzer reported that this decision was made by AEW head doctor Dr. Michael Sampson. This reportedly was the reason why Saraya was able to be involved in a physical segment with Britt Baker following the Women’s Trios match at this past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show.
Prior to his hiring, Dr. Sampson had worked as a member of WWE’s medical staff and helped save Jerry “The King” Lawler’s life following his heart attack incident during a WWE RAW show in September of 2012.
