As noted before, Saraya recently signed an official contract with AEW and made her debut for the company at their Dynamite Grand Slam 2022 event this past September. Saraya had revealed in a recent Twitch streaming session that she did not have any talks with WWE regarding a potential in-ring in the company prior to her departure this past July. Saraya has been out of action since suffering a neck injury in 2017 and her following retirement due to WWE not being willing to medically clear her.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that WWE had offered Saraya a deal for a potential return this past August that included terms for an on-screen General Manager role and chance to wrestle again in the company. It was reported that Saraya was one of the people that WWE’s new leadership regime was interested in bringing back into the company.
It was reported that prior to her departure, Saraya had wanted to be medically cleared for an in-ring return and passed three outside medical checks but WWE did not bother to have her take a medical test during Vince McMahon’s leadership tenure. It was also reported that WWE officials at the time were also not willing to sign off on her x-ray results that could have led to her being medically cleared for an in-ring return.
In regards to AEW, it was reported that one main reason for Saraya’s decision to sign with AEW was due to her wanting to pursue outside projects and AEW not taking a cut of her earnings unlike in WWE.
