AEW: Penta El Zero Miedo on Being Trios Champion, Jeff Jarrett on Braun Strowman Dig, Jay Lethal

Penta El Zero Miedo Comments on Himself & Death Triangle Being AEW Trios Champions

Lucha Libre Online held a recent interview with Penta El Zero Miedo. One of the topics discussed included Penta’s thoughts on Death Triangle’s current reign as AEW Trios Champions.

“We are enjoying the process in AEW. We are focused on defending the Trios Titles that we hold & We will defend them against multiple teams. Pac is currently happy with us. We are a fusion that no one expected, as we are a team of two Mexicans and an English man.”

Penta also gave his thoughts about if he had ever expected to be a Trios champion in the United States during his career.

“I honestly did not, and that’s the beauty of this great sport. We got ready and we seized the opportunity and now we are the champions. We are open to defending the titles against any trios in Mexico & the United States.”

Jeff Jarrett Comments on His Reason for His Promo Insulting WWE’s Braun Strowman

This past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show in Boston, Massachusetts featured a promo segment by Jeff Jarrett. During his promo, Jarrett included an insult dig at WWE’s Brawn Strowman calling him a “make believe monster who wears red skinny jeans”.

In a recent episode of the My World with Jeff Jarrett podcast, co-host Jarrett gave his reasons why he insulted Strowman during his promo.

“I love the industry because if you’re not into social media, that’s ‘The Last Outlaw’ just kind of taking a dig at a blanket statement of big men in wrestling and red skinny jeans, just an outfit and a circus and all that. Here is a legitimate megastar from India. In my mind is, ‘How am I going to put this guy over,’ but also, you call it old school heat, get a reaction, be the antagonist, and put this guy over. I had no idea about Braun and showing up late. I didn’t know any of that, but I was aware of him being kind of, I don’t know if it’s naive or whatever you want to call it, when he takes a shot at the ‘flippy flop’ stuff. It’s almost tone-deaf. In 2022, when you look at the landscape of all of pro wrestling, you want to resonate with your audience. Hats off, I think Corey Graves made a great statement that Braun is happy that him and Omos had a great match. At the same time, he didn’t put just one, he put both feet in his mouth and is knocking ‘flippy flop,’ which I take offense to because this industry, whether it’s the X-Division or Lucha Libre or whatever, if we don’t have a diversity of genres and styles of wrestling, it’s a different appetite. For him to take a shot at it, I thought, ‘here’s a perfect opportunity to draw an analogy, and Braun, whether he’s a former softball player or strongman, he’s got some accolades, but he’s certainly not a NBA player.

I’m the antagonist, The Last Outlaw, so I’m putting my guy over. If you look at the four of us, Jay Lethal, when he flips the switch, in-ring, he’s really good. Sonjay legit has a high IQ, which I put over. He’s one of the only guys, when I started TNA, ‘Hey, I can’t make the Wednesday show.’ ‘Why not?’ ‘I have to go to class.’ That put him in a different category for me, from day one. We’ve always had a close relationship, I’ve worked with him for years. Satnam goes without say. I’m proud of our unit and I wanted to lay it out like that. Satnam is a legit giant.”

Jay Lethal Comments About His AEW Career & Upcoming Tag Match at Full Gear 2022

A recent episode of The Kurt Angle Show podcast featured Jay Lethal as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Lethal’s thoughts about his AEW career and future of his wrestling career.

“If I didn’t get fired, part of me believes I’d still be [at IMPACT Wrestling] because my dad and I have always talked about being loyal and wrestling and not just going to the highest bidder. If a company is taking good care of you and you like them, and you guys respect each other, and there are no real issues, you can chat about the money later. Your loyalty and your word have got to mean something. I would have been in IMPACT Wrestling, I believe, to this day if they didn’t let me go. Ring of Honor, if they didn’t close down, I would still be wrestling for them to this day.

Things happen for a reason. Now, I am in AEW, which is amazing. It’s a godsend. Then, they bought Ring of Honor, but I’ll be at AEW until the company closes, they let me go, or they fire me, because, to me, in wrestling, if I’m going to put my body, my life, and my career on the line for you, I’ve got to appreciate and love you. There is some bond between us and I’m going to try my hardest to not ever break that bond. So, if you don’t break it, I’m not going to break it, and we’ll bond forever.”

Lethal also gave his thoughts about his upcoming tag team match at AEW’s Full Gear 2022 event and past history working with Jeff Jarrett and Sting.

“Well, to say I’m excited about being in AEW is an understatement and I’m getting to on-screen work with my best friend in life, Sonjay Dutt. There’s this adage, it doesn’t feel like work. I get to go there and perform with my best friend. How can I call this work? But I can because it’s an amazing job that I have and you know, from the moment I got to AEW, I had known and met a lot of those people throughout the travels and on the road so when I got there, it felt so welcoming and it felt like home because I had known everybody. There was only a few faces that I hadn’t met and now that I’ve met them, we’re friends too. So being a part of AEW is awesome. I’m really excited because the feedback from when I teamed with Jeff [Jarrett] at the Last Match against [Ric] Flair, everybody was so impressed with Jeff. They were like, ‘He can still go and he’s in great shape’ and this so I’m excited to bring that onto a stage like AEW so more people can see that he can still go and he is a great heel and he still has a lot more to offer and also Jeff’s working behind the scenes with AEW, helping with international markets and some other things that they’re doing which is cool too because AEW is just on this upward trend and the more help we can get, the better. Just so that wrestling as a whole is surviving and doing well. So yeah, I’m excited and I get to wrestle Sting again. Darby [Allin] and Sting. I get to wrestle Darby again, which I’ve had tremendous — I feel like every interaction I’ve had with him has been a homerun for me personally. I don’t know how he feels or everybody else but me personally, walking away, when I feel like I hit a homerun and I love that interaction then sometimes I don’t care what other people think which is, you know, sometimes you gotta do that or you’ll go crazy, right? [Lethal smiled] So I get to work with Sting, alongside Jeff and this is gonna be insane. I got to wrestle with Sting a long time ago. He took a liking to me because he got to work with [Randy] Savage and Flair both and I can pretend to be both of them and I can say things to him that they’ve said in the past and he thinks it’s so funny. He loves it. Oh man, Sting, what a wonderful person. So I get to work with both of these guys on pay-per-view and I can’t believe that years before that, I was playing with their action figures and they were both beating Kurt Angle [Lethal laughed].”
