WWE: Bray Wyatt Suffered Potential Broken Finger Injury, WrestleMania 39 Plans Update, Beth Phoenix

Bray Wyatt Suffered Potential Broken Finger Injury

WWE’s house show event on Thursday in Miami, Florida featured a singles match between Bray Wyatt and Jinder Mahal.

Following the match, Wyatt told several fans at ringside that he believed that he had suffered a broken finger injury during his match.

This was Wyatt’s fourth match since his return to WWE at this past October’s Extreme Rules 2022 event, all of which have taken place during this week’s house show events and all in singles matches against Mahal.

WrestleMania 39 Main Event Plans Update

As noted before, WWE is currently working on plans for Roman Reigns to potentially defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at next year’s WrestleMania 39 event in Inglewood, California.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque has already made a decision regarding alternate plans for Reigns should Johnson not be able to available to work at WrestleMania 39.

Meltzer reported that the backup opponent for Reigns is currently not known but speculated that Cody Rhodes would make the most sense based on betting odds for a potential match.

Meltzer also reported that WWE officials have recently held a lot more talks regarding plans to create a new World belt for their RAW brand in 2023. These plans reportedly involve either Rhodes or Drew McIntyre being crowned as its first champion but do not involve this taking place at next year’s WrestleMania 39 event as of this week.

Beth Phoenix Comments on Potential In-Ring Return in the Future

A recent episode of the 2 Lies And 1 Truth podcast featured WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Phoenix’s thoughts on her interest in coming out of retirement for a potential in-ring return in the future.

“Who knows these days? [Beth laughed when asked if she’ll be back in a wrestling ring] You know, I say this every single time, it’s the most clichĂ© thing but never say never or like, retirement in wrestling isn’t a thing, right? It’s embarrassing to say I’m retired because it’s never true.”
