Backstage: Creed Brothers, JD McDonagh

The Creeds are in the back and they are talking about getting back on track.  Julius says that he hopes Indus Sher is watching because JD McDonagh is getting his receipt.

JD McDonagh says he is glad the holidays are over.  He has one gift for Julius Creed and that is a loss.


JD McDonagh vs. Julius Creed

They lock up and JD with a side head lock take down.  Julius with a head scissors and JD escapes.  JD with a head scissors take down and Julius with a head scissors.  JD slaps Julius and Julius slaps back.  They exchange pushes and Julius with a side head lock.  Julius holds on to the hair to avoid JD sending him off the ropes.  Julius with a shoulder tackle and a hip toss.  Julius with a hip lock take down for a near fall.  Julius with a side head lock.  JD with a wrist lock and he takes Julius to the mat.  Julius with a wrist lock take down but he goes to the floor when JD moves out of the way.  JD goes for a kick on the apron but Julius blocks it and he picks up JD and drops him on the announce table.  Julius gets JD up again but JD escapes and sends Julius into the ring post.  JD pulls Julius chest first into the ring post and he stretches Julius on the ring post.

They return to the ring and JD with a forearm.  JD with a wrist lock and then a hammer lock belly-to-back suplex.  JD maintains the hammer lock and drops knees onto the shoulder.  JD adds more pressure with the hammer lock.  Julius with punches and JD with an arm wringer that sends Julius to the mat.  JD with a forearm to the back.  JD with a hammer lock and he sends Julius shoulder first into the ring post.  JD with a divorce court and he returns to the hammer lock.  JD with a knee drop to the head.  Julius with a take down as he goes for the legs.  JD with chops against the ropes and he rubs Julius’ eyes on the top rope.  JD with a forearm to the lower back followed by a hip toss.  JD with a leg drop to the arm and a short arm scissors.  Julius picks up JD and hits a suplex.  Julius catches JD off the turnbuckles and hits a back breaker.  Julius picks up JD but JD goes for a sunset flip and Julius stays on his feet.  Julius with a jumping knee but JD with a Spanish Fly.

JD with forearms to the back .  Julius with a forearm and German suplex that sends JD face first to the mat.  JD with an enzuigiri.  JD with a brainbuster and he gets a near fall.  JD goes up top and Julius leaps to the turnbuckles but JD sends Julius to the mat.  JD misses a moonsault when Julius rolls away.  Julius with a rolling slam and clothesline for the three count.

Winner: Julius Creed via Pinfall.

After the match, Veer and Sanga appear on the apron.

Veer congratulates Julius on his victory and he says he has proven himself.  Sanga says they will face you in two weeks and we will get the respect we deserve when we destroy you.


Backstage: Tony D’Angelo, Stacks

McKenzie brings up Dijak but Tony says Stacks took care of Dijak.

Channing says they had a closed door talk and everything has been resolved.


Video: Schism

We are back with Schism.

Joe says he understands that others have issues with their lifestyle.  Anyone who came up to them has been taken care of. 

We can see the emotional issues in you Edris, Malik, and Odyssey.

Your attempts to fill the void are short term solutions to long term instabilities.

You wear masks of fake happiness to hide the charade. 

Edris, Malik, and Odyssey, there are redeeming qualities within, but you must continue to nurture that bond.  We will show that togetherness binds them and allows them to grow beyond their limits.  They are four roots, one tree.


Cora Jade vs. Wendy Choo

Wendy with forearms and a Japanese arm drag.  Wendy follows Cora to the floor and she pulls Cora back to the floor and connects with forearms and chops.  Wendy sends Cora back into the ring and Cora goes back to the floor.  Cora trips Wendy and sends her into the apron.  Cora gets her kendo stick and swings and misses.  Wendy with a kick and she sends Cora into the apron.  Wendy sends Cora back into the ring and Cora misses a clothesline.  Wendy with a rollup for a near fall.  Wendy with a drop kick but she misses a Yakuza Kick.  Cora pulls Wendy to the mat.  Cora with a springboard double stomp to the back for a near fall.  Cora kicks Wendy in the back and chokes her in the ropes.  Cora with a running back elbow to Choo against the ropes.  Cora with an elbow drop for a near fall.  Cora with an arm bar.

Wendy with an elbow and Cora with a waist lock.  Wendy gets to her feet and connects with a forearm.  Cora fires back and then Wendy follows with more forearms.  Cora holds on to the ropes on an O’Connor Roll attempt.  Cora with a knee and she gets a near fall.  Cora with a full nelson and Wendy tries to back Cora into the corner but Cora sends Wendy into the turnbuckles.  Wendy blocks a knee in the corner and hits a Liger Bomb for a near fall.

Cora and Wendy with forearms.  Wendy with kicks and a clothesline.  Wendy with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex.  Wendy with a cartwheel forearm into the corner.  Wendy goes to the turnbuckles for a Drowsy Cross Body and gets a near fall.  Wendy with a full nelson and Cora reverses and hits a spinning face plant for a near fall.  Cora kicks Wendy and Wendy with an inside cradle for a near fall.  Cora with a kick and Wendy with an Irish whip that sends Cora into the turnbuckles.  Wendy with a uranage and Wendy goes up top and hits the inward splash for the three count.

Backstage: Ikemen Jiro

Ikemen Jiro walks in the back and says his jacket is part of who he is.  Without the jacket, he is just Jiro.  He says he will beat Scrypts and take back his jacket.  He says everyone will smile.


Backstage: Josh Briggs, Brooks Jensen, Fallon Henley

We are back and Josh is telling Fallon about how important her match is.  Josh asks Brooks to focus and he says he is on HER side.  He clarifies that he is on Fallon’s side.


Ikemen Jiro vs. Scrypts

Scrypts comes into the ring from the announce table side.

Scrypts with punches and Jiro sends Scrypts to the apron.  Jiro kicks Scrypts off the apron and then hits a flip dive.  Jiro with punches to Scrypts.  Jiro with kicks and punches but Scrypts sends Jiro to the apron.  Jiro with a forearm and he tries for a sunset flip but Scrypts stays on his feet and hits a back flip.  Scrypts with punches.  Scrypts kicks Jiro.  Scrypts trips Jiro and drop kicks him into the ropes.  Scrypts gets a near fall.  Scrypts with a figure four head scissors.  Jiro with punches and an Irish whip.  Jiro with a back body drop. 

Jiro with palm strikes to Scrypts followed by a knee for a near fall.  Jiro gets Scrypts on his shoulders but Scrypts escapes.  Scrypts with an elbow and a twisting cross body.  Scrypts misses a shooting star press.  Jiro runs into a boot and Jiro with an enzuigiri.  Jiro puts Scrypts on the turnbuckles.  Scrypts with a punch but Jiro with an enzuigiri.  Scrypts with punches to block a superplex and he sends Jiro to the mat.  Scrypts with a Molly Go Round for the three count.

Winner: Scrypts via Pinfall.


Video: Oro Mensah

We go to Oro Mensah at the club.  He says the night life maximizes your senses.  It is about that moment and the interactive environment.  He says he is bringing that vibe to NXT.


Video: Alba Fyre

We are back and Alba Fyre tells Isla Dawn that she has awakened an unfamiliar beast.  Her ancestors are stronger than your magic.  We will see who is laughing next week, it will be Anything Goes.


Backstage: Wes Lee

Wes Lee is in the locker room thinking about his match against Tony D’Angelo later tonight.


Lash Legend vs. Lyra Valkyria

Lash with an uppercut and she tosses Lyra by the hair.  Lash with a forearm into the corner and a snap mare.  Lash with an elbow drop to the back for a near fall.  Lyra with kicks to the leg and a side head lock.  Lash gets Lyra up but Lyra gets back to her feet.  Lyra with shoulder tackles but Lash stays on her feet.  Lyra sends Lash to the floor and hits a drop kick through the ropes.  Lyra kicks Lash from the apron but Lash pulls Lyra off the apron.  Lash with a chop.  Lash gets a near fall.  Lyra with shoulders and kicks but Lash catches Lyra and hits a back breaker.  Lash misses a moonsault when Lyra moves.  Lyra with a back heel kick and more kicks.  Lyra with a flying clothesline or two.  Lyra with a tornado DDT.

Lyra with a spinning back heel kick and she goes up top.  Lyra with a splash for the three count.

Backstage: Toxic Attraction

We go to Jacy and Gigi and Gigi says 2022 was the year of Toxic Attraction.  They were the greatest group in NXT history.  Jacy says despite their success, they did suffer a heartbreaking loss.  Even at their lowest point, the eyes haven’t strayed from the attraction of NXT. 

We were written off but we succeeded.  We will rebuild, reconstruct, and rule again.  It starts with us taking down who brought down our empire.


Backstage: Bron Breakker, Grayson Waller

Bron Breakker is with McKenzie. 

She asks about what happened last week and how he is doing.

Bron says he fell into Waller’s trap and he is fine.  He is not playing any games and he is going to the ring to call out Waller.

McKenzie says Waller isn’t here but he left a video.  Waller says Bron is big and strong, but Waller says he is smarter.  He would love to go face to face with him one more time, but he is back home.  What better place to get ready for his match than in Sydney, Australia.  He goes to Bondi Beach. 

How is Grayson Waller getting ready for Bron Breakker?  This is how.  He is training with the greatest athletes.  On January 10th, he will take care of Bron Breakker and take the title back to Australia.  He says he sacrificed all this to go to NXT.  He says he is bigger than this.  It will all be worth it when he become champion.  Waller says he will be there next week so they can sign the papers for their match on the Grayson Waller Effect.

Bron picks up the monitor and throws it against the lockers.  He storms out of the room with his title belt.


The Schism (Joe Gacy, Jagger Reid, & Rip Fowler) vs. Odyssey Jones, Edris Enofe, & Malik Blade

Gacy and Blade start things off and they lock up.  Blade with a side head lock.  Gacy goes for a belly-to-back suplex but Blade lands on his feet.  Gacy with a drop toe hold but Blade escapes.  Blad with a victory roll for a near fall.  Gacy with a punch and he sends Blade into the turnbuckles  Reid tags in and punches Blade.  Blade with a drop kick.  Blade with a wrist lock and Enofe tags in and Enofe with a punch followed by a boot from Blade and a clothesline from Enofe for a near fall.  Enofe with a front face lock and Fowler tags in and gets in a few shots before entering the ring.

Fowler with a forearm to the back followed by a suplex for a near fall.  Fowler gets another near fall.  Fowler with a rear chin lock.  Enofe escapes a slam attempt and Fowler holds on to the ropes on an O’Connor Roll.  Enofe with a drop kick and a front face lock.  Fowler with a wrist lock but Enofe with a side head lock.  Jones tags in and Fowler bounces off Jones and Jones with a barrel roll onto Fowler.  Blade tags in and Jones with a slam.  Blade gets on Jones’ shoulders and hits a splash.  All six men get in the ring.

We are back and Fowler with a reverse chiin lock on Blade.  We see footage of Gacy hitting a uranage and elbow drop to Blade during the commercial.

Ava has some words for Booker while the match continues.

Fowler with a forearm to the back and Blade fights out of the corner with punches and elbows.  Fowler stops Blade and then he knocks Enofe off the apron.  Jones tags in and clotheslines Fowler and Reid and knocks Gacy off the apron.  Jones with hips into the corner on Fowler and Reid and follows with a double side slam.  Enofe tags in and hits an elbow drop for a near fall.  Jones pushes Reid away but Fowler and Gacy pull Jones to the floor.  Reid bounces off Jones on a suicide dive and then Fowler followed by Gacy to no effect.  A second circuit sends Jones off the announce table.  Blade takes care of Fowler and Gacy.  Enofe with a jumping knee to Reid that sends him to the apron.  Enofe sets for a superplex but Gacy makes the tag and he gets Enofe on his shoulders.  Fowler stops Blade and gets him on his shoulders.  Reid with a double Doomsday Device followed by a double Codebreaker and handspring clothesline for the three count.

Winner: The Schism via Pinfall.


Backstage: Kiana James, Fallon Henley, Josh Briggs, Brooks Jensen

Kiana James walks in the back.

Fallon Henley walks in the back with Brooks and Josh.


Backstage: Carmelo Hayes, Trick Williams

McKenzie is with Trick and Carmelo.  She mentions their matches next week with Axiom facing Trick Williams and Carmelo facing Apollo Crews.

Trick says he has Axiom next week.  He can do a lot of things, but he cannot whoop Trick.  Hayes says 2023 is the year he becomes the NXT Champion and one person stands in his way, Apollo Crews.  He has accomplished a lot in NXT but he has never beaten him.  He can move out of the way or he can move Apollo out of the way.  The title has my name on it.


Battle for the Bar Match
Fallon Henley vs. Kiana James

They have words for each other but James with a knee and forearm followed by a chop.  James with a wrist lock and arm wringer.  Fallon with a shoulder tackle and waist lock.  She sends Kiana to the mat and hits a drop kick to the back of the head.  James goes to the ropes and Fallon slides to the floor.  James holds up the ring skirt but Fallon does not move and she punches Kiana when she puts down the ring skirt.  Fallon gets a near fall.

Fallon tries to float over on an Irish whip and James catches her and sends Fallon to the mat.  Kiana with a shoulder in the corner.  James with a near fall.  James kicks Fallon in the corner.  James with a knee to the midsection and she gets Fallon on her shoulders and sends Fallon face first to the mat for a near fall.  James with a body scissors and roll up for a near fall.  James gets a near fall.  Kiana with kicks and she pie faces Fallon.  Fallon with a forearm and Kiana fires back.  They continue the exchange and Fallon with a chop and punches.  Fallon with a clothesline.

Fallon with an elbow in the corner followed by a bulldog for a near fall.  James with a gutbuster for a near fall.  James with a knee to the midsection but Fallon trips James.  Fallon with a running knee for the three count.

Winner: Fallon Henley via Pinfall.

After the match, Josh and Brooks come into the ring to celebrate with Fallon. 

We see Kiana on the floor and Brooks appears to be concerned about her but he has to celebrate with Fallon.


Backstage: Roxanne Perez

McKenzie is with NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez. 

Roxanne says it hasn’t sunk in that she is champion.  It is a dream she doesn’t want to wake up from.  She knows the honeymoon phase will be over and she has to be on point to keep the title.  She mentions the talent in the locker room.  You look at the past champions and all of them will be in the Hall of Fame.  Roxanne says she is not at that level yet, so she has to live up to that reputation.  She will do everything she can to represent that title.


Video: Isla Dawn

We are back and Isla Dawn says we are really having fun.  The evil is inside me and it is being driven to the surface.  It is just another step for them.  Next week, the resolution will happen. 


In-Ring: Drew Gulak, Hank Walker, Charlie Dempsey

Drew Gulak is in the ring with Hank Walker.

He welcomes everyone and he says he is in the ring with three up and coming superstars who are looking to improve their skills.  He asks Hank to watch from the corner.

Drew says one of the first lessons in NXT is that you are going to face people with different experience levels.

First is Luca and he shakes Drew’s hand. 

Drew wants Luca to turn around and Drew tells him to relax.  Drew says Luca might feel some pressure.  Any hold where you can take control, like a chicken wing.  Drew locks in the crossface chicken wing.  He thanks Luca.  Drew mentions how he released the hold as soon as Luca tapped.

Drew moves on to Tavion Heights.  Drew asks about Tavion’s amateur background and they roll around.  Drew with a front face lock but Tavion is able to escape.  Drew takes advantage and applies a heel hook and Tavion taps.

Drew says as soon as you feel the tap, you release the hold.

Drew moves on to Myles Borne. 

Drew shakes his hand and they lock up and Borne with a waist lock but Drew with a standing switch into a side head lock.  Borne with a fireman’s carry into a waist lock.  Drew says that is okay and Drew with a reversal into a Dragon sleeper and body scissors.  Borne taps and Drew does not release the hold immediately.

Drew tells Hank there are times when you really have to grind your opponent down.

Charlie Dempsey makes his way to the ring. 

Dempsey asks Gulak if he wants to step up to him and he can give Drew a run for his money.

Drew says Charlie wasn’t invited. 

Hank holds Drew back.

Dempsey says next week, I will make an example out of your student.

Drew says that sounds good and Hank will be ready.

NXT North American Championship
Tony D’Angelo vs. Wes Lee (c)

They lock up and Tony sends Wes to the mat.  They lock up again and Tony sends Wes to the mat again and has some words for him.  Wes with punches but Tony traps the arms and hits an overhead belly-to-belly suplex followed by a German suplex for a near fall.  Tony with a waist lock and he hits a German suplex but Wes lands on his feet.  Wes with a drop kick.  Wes with a handstand head scissors that sends Tony into the ropes.  Wes with an uppercut in the corner followed by punches. 

Channing tells Tony to sweep the leg and Tony tells Channing to shut up. 

Tony returns to the ring and goes for the leg but Lee avoids him the first time and applies a front face lock the second time.  Tony backs Wes into the corner and Tony with punches and shoulders.  Tony with a hard Irish whip.  Tony misses a boot in the corner and Lee with a kick to the thigh and he hyper-extends the leg.  Lee with a kick and a shooting star press to the back but Tony rolls to the floor.  Lee with a suicide dive clothesline to Tony.

Lee sends Tony back into the ring and gets a near fall.  Lee with a front face lock.  Tony tries to escape but Lee rolls through to maintain the front face lock.  Tony gets a near fall but Lee returns to the side head lock.  Tony with an Irish whip and Lee returns to the side head lock.  Lee with a take down.  Tony backs Lee into the corner to escape the hold.  Lee with kicks to the leg.  Tony blocks a kick and he hits a T-bone suplex into the turnbuckles.  Tony kicks and punches Lee.  Tony with a back breaker.  Tony gets a near fall.  Tony with a short arm clothesline and elbow drop for a near fall.  Tony hyper-extends the leg to return the favor from earlier in the match.  Tony with an elbow drop to the leg and he works on the knee.

Tony with elbow drops to the leg and he grapevines the leg.  Tony with an atomic drop to the knee and a second one that sends Lee to the floor.  Tony goes to the floor and he punches Lee while he has him in a front face lock.  Tony with a gourdbuster onto the announce table.  Tony gets a near fall when they return to the ring.  Tony goes for a fisherman’s suplex but Lee counters with a DDT.  Both men are down and Lee with kicks to the leg.  Lee with punches and kicks to Tony.  Lee with an uppercut and clothesline followed by more punches. 

Lee with more punches in the corner.  Lee goes to the turnbuckles and punches Tony.  Tony gets Lee up and hits a power bomb.  Tony goes to the turnbuckles and Lorenzo cheers him on until . . .
Dijak attacks Channing from behind and chokes him as he takes Channing to the back.

Lee with a back handspring kick for the three count.

Winner: Wes Lee via Pinfall to retain the NXT North American Championship.
