Cena says today is his WWE birthday.  He says people as far as the eye can see, you can feel the energy and hear the noise.  John says he couldn’t think of a better place to have his birthday.  Cena comments on a sign that points out his jorts.  John says he has never been one on celebrating milestones because he always looks forward to what is next.  Tonight is different.  If you listen to stuff like that, tonight has nothing to do with any moment or match.  Tonight has everything to do with you.  This 20th anniversary is so important to me because it means that you have allowed me to do this for two decades.  It has never been lost on me that every time I stand in this ring is because you allow it.

Over the years, you have provided me an environment to be my true self.  You have told me when I sucked, and when I did not.  I have always wanted to say thank you.  I guess I have been waiting for the right moment and this feels like that right moment.  John says his heart is beating out of his chest and he thanks everyone for moments like this and for making him who he is.  I always say that WWE has prepared me for anything.  I am not talking about Fast and Furious or Peacemaker, I am talking about because of you and your reactions and investment in me, you have made me a better human being.  Because of you, I am a better professional.  I am a better husband and a better person.  Being in the WWE and spending moments with the families I have been with today, you have taught me empathy and kindness.

Every time you step in the ring, you never give less than everything you have.  You shower us with everything you’ve got when you come to the shows.  This isn’t about a last name or people coming together.  Cena mentions he is 45 years old and he says he does not know the next time you will see me in the ring.  I need to say this now.  Cena says it won’t just be one more match.  Anything I do outside of this is not just me.  It is not about him when you chant this name.  John says you have made him who he is.  If you see something good, say something.  If you see something that sucks, say something.  It is not about him, it is about us.

John says that is the sound of us.  We are just getting started.

Backstage: Sami Zayn

We go to Sami Zayn.

Sami welcomes everyone to his locker room.  He says the year 2022 has really been the most remarkable year in his life and in WWE history.  Why?  Because of the most dominant faction in WWE history, the Bloodline.  They have dominated WWE in a way never seen before.  You have to talk about Roman Reigns when you talk domination.  If you haven’t done it yet, it is time to acknowledge him.  You have to remember the debut of Solo Sikoa.  You talk about dominance, you have to talk about the Usos and their journey to become the longest reigning tag team champions of all time.  Sami says he needs a dictionary to understand a lot of what the Usos say.

The absolute highlight was at Survivor Series when he embraced the Bloodline and they embraced him.  He was responsible for the Bloodline winning.

Sami says the level of dominance you saw in 2022 was a sample of what you are going to see in 2023.  Sami wishes everyone Happy Holidays.

Undisputed WWE Universal Championship
Logan Paul vs. Roman Reigns (c)

We take a look at the match and here is the match coverage:

Logan Paul up on a giant podium to take a selfie with the entire stadium. Michael Cole calling this a Buster Douglas scenario. He calls it potentially the biggest upset in wrestling history. Wade Barret is just mad that Logan Paul stole his podium. Man, I don’t love the entrance CGI in general but Roman’s is just overly bad looking. Just show me the stadium and fireworks. Practical effects ftw. Cole saying that Roman may be looking past Logan Paul…they really wanna pump up this underdog story and paint cracks on their tribal chief. Absurd levels of pyro coming off the roof for the champ. Ring the bell. The crowd is behind Logan but Roman just powers him into the corner from the lockup. They get to jawing. They to shoving. Logan takes down Roman but the tribal chief gives him one back. Fireman carry takeover by Logan but Roman just punches him in the face. Logan swings hard but ducked. Roman takes a powder as Heyman tells him to NOT get hit by that punch. “Stop running” yells Logan. Roman with a hard shot to the body, he’s taking his time with this kid. Paul kicks out but Roman is just smiling. Logan rallying back but it’s short lived. He get tossed over the barricade but comes flying back with a crossbody to the floor! Slingshot flip clothesline into the ring for a near fall! Logan Paul trying to keep it going but Roman punches him out of the air as he slingshots in again. “Rise up my tribal chief” yells Heyman. Roman walking him down with stomps. Roman trying to choke him down, we get a sweeping panorama of the stadium while they sit in the hold. Logan’s jaw is hanging wide as he gets pummeled with short clotheslines in the corner. Roman talking trash into the camera as he holds Paul down. Logan throwing hands to the mid section…he dodges out of the corner…gutwrench slam! Logan hits some back elbows…blockbuster off the second for two. Roman Reigns is looking tired. Off the ropes…Logan hits a Superman punch! Kip up! He’s up top! Crossbody connects! Standing moonsault! Roman kicks out again! Heyman looking worried. He’s tuning up the band?!? Reigns catches that…I guess it was supposed to be a superkick and plants him with a uranage. Logan dodges a Superman punch, he lands that hard right! Superman punch! Reigns kicks out again but this was a definitely false finish. Roman collapses to the floor. Logan clears the announcer table and puts Roman on it. He grabs  his phone so he can selfie his splash down to the table. Thank god he landed that. The USO’s here to check on Roman. They get into it with Logan’s crew. Double superkick and the USO’s rule the ring until Jake Paul is out here to confront them. Jake Paul KO’s both of them with one punch each. He tells Logan to finish it. Logan is on top! Huge frog splash! Roman kicks out again! Solo Sikoa out here now. Jake Paul squares up but a pile of people spill from the back to break them up. Logan dives out at the USO’s? Logan back in the ring…Superman punch! Roman spears Logan Paul in half and gets the three. Roman looks shocked at how much of a fight he got tonight but he is keeping his belts tonight. The Bloodline celebrates in the ramp but they definitely look worse for wear. Cue BIG FIREWORKS. Roman has to take a knee and holds his head…he’s shook and says he never wants to see Logan Paul again.

Winner: Roman Reigns via Pinfall to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
