  6. TNT Championship: Darby Allin defeated Samoa Joe (c) via two Coffin Drops after Joe hit an exposed turnbuckle – New TNT Champion

There is a different entrance where you come from either the left or the right to a central entrance instead of a pair of entrance tunnels. Generally it still seems like Heels enter on the right and Babyfaces enter from the left

Chris Jericho vs. Ricky Starks

We start with the Jericho Appreciation Society coming to the ring. Lots of close up fan shots as well as they enter.

They start slow with Jericho celebrating after a hip toss. When Ricky celebrates a move of his, Jericho slaps him and it becomes a fight. Ricky does a bit where he struts on the ropes while holding Jericho’s arm that looked cool but made no sense if it’s a fight. But, the crowd ate it up. They are also lighting and shooting the crowd differently, so the you see more individuals that an crowd type shot. The match is a 50/50 match as we go into the fight picture in picture break.

Jericho is in charge when they go full screen, but the crowd is LOUD for anything Ricky does. It’s the first time in the area, and the crowd is there to have a good time and see a hot show. Starks gets a power bomb pin, and even rises up during the cover to put extra leverage on the pin, which looked good and made Jericho’s kick out seem less certain. Starks then blocks the Code breaker, which is a good spot people are starting to do now.

When Starks is put in the lion tamer, the crowd is louder than the commentary team. Starks it hit with a bat not seen by the ref, and the ref checks his arm, it drops on the third time but he raises it back up to keep the match going. Starks is able to give Menard and Parker punches when they got on the apron before getting a leaping spear for the pin and the win.

Winner: Ricky Starks

The rest of the Jericho Appreciation Society show up, but soon we get Action Andretti with a chair to clear them out and give the crowd a moment to cheer. Starks was super fired up for this match and Jericho did a good job of putting him over. Tay and Anna are able to get the low blow on Andretti so that JAS can get revenge. Starks is put through a table at ringside.

In-Ring: Hangman Page, Jon Moxley

In the ring, Tony Schiavone is going to talk to Adam Page. Tony asks if he is good to go, and Page says he still not medically cleared to compete. He says he’s been told if he gets into it with Moxley, it will set him back a week. We do get the first note Moxley’s song but it cuts off as Page says he will beat down Mox. OK, he said he’d knock Mox’s d!ck in the dirt…so not as bad as last week for cursing.

Oh, and Mox comes to the ring. Mox says he is sick of the candlelight vigil for Page. He has to get a different mic since it’s not being broadcast in the arena and checks the new mic with an f-bomb. He says he has worked hurt and Page playing the victim makes him sick.

Page says Mox is making jokes about Page because he feels threatened. He says he is here for revenge. He says he has two in the chamber with his name on them and Mox will get them next week.

Mox says the only joke he thinks is funny is that Page thinks next time will be different, and next time, he will make sure Page doesn’t get back up.

We then get a video to hype the main event between Samoa Joe and Darby Allin. Joe has a great taped promo here as well.

AEW World Tag Team Championship
The Acclaimed (c) vs. Jay Lethal & Jeff Jarrett

Max Caster’s rap fires back at Jarrett’s statement about how he is upset by Caster’s rap last week.

Jarrett starts with a cheap shot on Caster on the apron and Bowens takes over. Lethal tags in and Bowens keeps up the attack, keeping Lethal from attacking. Caster tags in and Keeps Lethal from tagging out. He spends most of his moves while mugging at Jarrett. Bowens tags in with the Scissor Me Timbers and Jarrett gets the in ring and takes one as well. Billy Gunn gets ejected as we go to picture in picture.

We come back to full screen with Lethal working over Bowens. Caster is able to get the hot tag and he takes it to Jarrett and works over Lethal as well. I like that any time Caster and Jarrett are in the ring together, Jarrett is antagonizing him with slaps and Caster goes nuts. Lethal and Jarrett start into getting near falls. Satnam tosses Caster into the ring steps and when the ref tosses him, m he flips the double bird to the ref, bringing out the referee corps. Jarrett gets The Stroke on Bowens, and Lethal covers. Bowens gets a foot on the ropes, but Sonjay shoves it off and the Ref calls a three count.

Since Aubrey Edwards was at ringside, she saw it all and they restart the match.

Bowens is able to roll up Lethal and holds on for the pin and the win.

Winners and still AEW Tag Team Champions: The Acclaimed

Lots of shenanigans, but it showed me that Jarrett can still get heat, and shenanigans can work if they set it up.

Sit-Down Interview: Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter

Tony Schiavone is with Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter and they say they are the top of the women’s division and Saraya just isn’t good enough.

Backstage: Jungle Boy & Hook

Jungle Boy is with Hook, and he calls out The Firm and he will fight them with Hook.

Bryan Danielson vs. Tony Nese

They say that Nese is on a four match winning streak, and it feels like they may be the only four matches Nese has won in AEW. And Bryan as the home town boy gets a LOUDER sustained pop than anyone else so far. Josh Woods hold Bryan’s foot so that Nese can attack and take over. Bryan quickly turns it around and runs through his greatest hits on Nese. Nese does a great job of bouncing around the ring for him here, and I don’t’ mind the overselling, which usually annoys me, because it’s a home town crowd. Bryan puts him in a submission and Nese goes out.

Winner: Bryan Danielson

In-Ring: Bryan Danielson, MJF

Bryan grab a mic and says he’s feeling froggy and calls for MJF to come to the ring for a fight.

MJF’s music hits and he comes out in street clothes. He then says no and that he gets a check whether he wrestles or not. He says that if Lance Storm and Dean Malenko had a child it would have less charisma than him. He then intimates that Bryan’s dad is a goat.

Bryan then intimates that MJF’s mother has had a plethora of suitors.

MJF, whose mom boos him, is upset by this. He mocks the fans and says he’s been put over by Disco Inferno, Eric Bischoff, and Jim Cornette. Which gets huge boos from the crowd and laughter from me. That is a great trolling set of folks.

Bryan then says he hates MJF and goes to charge up the ramp.

MJF says he came to the show as a favor to Bryan, and if he wants a shot, he has to become number one contender. He then says if he wins every match until February 8th, he can have a match. Bryan says he will wrestle when he wants. MJF says that if Bryan doesn’t do it the way MJF told him, he will never get a match.

Bryan says he will agree to it if he can make the stipulation for their match at Revolution.

MJF says sure. Bryan says that he can’t do anything to get him DQed, and instead it will be a one hour Iron Man Match. Bryan says he will face everyone MJF puts in front of him, and he will then show people MJF isn’t GOOD enough to wrestle every week. Then, he will kick MJF’s head in.

Swerve Strickland vs. AR Fox

Lots of high flying and acrobatics as the match starts. The match moves through with lots of kicks and leaps with two guys who have worked together in the past. Swerve is early on his his solo heel run, so this match showcases is style as a solo performer. Fox has a nice sequence from an Iconoclast to a 450 splash for a two count, and his flow from move to move is impressive.

Parker passes Swerve a foreign object and Swerve hits him with it on the top and hits a Death Valley Driver on the apron, followed by the double stomp for the pin and the win.

Winner: Swerve Strickland

Sit-Down Interview: Saraya, Toni Storm & Hikaru Shida

Renee is with Saraya, Hikaru Shida, and Toni Storm. They say that Britt Baker is trying to keep herself at the center of the division and they are trying to advance the division. Saraya says that Toni is the best wrestler in the world and is her partner, and Hikaru looks shocked at being left out.

In-Ring: The Gunns

Colton and Austin Gunn comes to the ring in somber clothing as they have FTRIP on the big screen with their death date being the date the Gunns beat them. In the ring, they have pictures of FTR so they can speak to FTR’s legacy.

They go over FTR’s losses and mock FTR as they “remember the legacy of FTR with a moment of silence.”

FTR’s music hits and the commentary say they aren’t there, since they were in Wrestle Kingdom last night. The Gunns then laugh at the fans for buying that they were there, and FTR will never wrestle in AEW again

Jade Cargill & Red Velvet vs. Skye Blue & Kiera Hogan

We start with Red and Blue, and they trade roll ups and near falls. Hogan is tagged in and she attacks Red quickly. Blue tags back in and they are keeping Red from tagging out. We come back from picture in picture with Jade Cargill in the ring, dominating. Jade then tags in Red when Red won’t tag in. Hogan then beats the living tar out of Red.

Jade does tag in when Red in their corner. Jade choke slams Hogan and then orders Red to finish her. Red drops off the apron and Hogan gets a pump kick as Jade gets the pin and the win.

Winners: Jade Cargill and Red Velvet

Backstage: Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal

Renee is with Jarrett’s team and she says that there will be a no holds barred between The Acclaimed and Jarrett and Jay Lethal Friday night.

Samoa Joe (c) vs. Darby Allin

Joe manhandles the “future wrestler” at ringside and Darby jumps Joe as he does it. He then uses the skateboard on Joe before the bell and brings a ladder from the back. The ref tries to stop him, but Darby goes to the top of the ladder and hits a leap onto Joe.

Darby then bulldogs Joe to the ring and tosses him in.

And now the bell rings. They brawl at ringside again and go to picture in picture where Joe is able to take over.

We see that during the picture in picture, Joe rammed Darby’s head into the ring post at breakneck speed. Remember, don’t do what Darby Allin do.

Joe has moved the match to his methodical destruction with Darby trying to fight back. Joe always has an evil smile after each of his big moves. Darby gets a flurry of offense until Joe gets a rear choke on him. Joe gets run into the exposed turnbuckle. And Darby goes for a Code Red and a pair of Coffin Drops for the pin and the win.

Winner and new TNT Champion: Darby Allin

He won in his home town, and they did have him get a bunch on Joe before the match (and an exposed turnbuckle) to win. The crowd liked it a lot, and when Sting came out it was a celebration.
