AEW Revolution 2023 PPV Buys Update

As noted before, AEW’s Revolution 2023 earlier this month in San Francisco, California is estimated to have generated around 130,000 to 140,000 pay-per-view buys.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Revolution 2023 is currently estimated be on the lower end of the scale at around 130,000 PPV buys based on updated numbers and estimates.

Meltzer reported that Revolution 2023 is currently estimated to have generated around 120,000 to 129,000 buys for live purchases and this number is currently expected to increase to around 130,000 once late buys are included.

In terms of breakdowns, Meltzer reported that overall streaming buys were slightly down compared to this past November’s Full Gear 2022 with international PPV buys being down 10-15%.

Cable television PPV buys reportedly were down 12.7% compared to Full Gear 2022 but one system that tracks cable PPV buys recently suffered a ransomware attack which resulted in a slower release and much lower than usual numbers for an AEW event. Meltzer reported that when factoring in this issue, cable PPV buys were closer to being down 5.5% compared to Full Gear 2022.

Meltzer speculated that once late buys are included in, Revolution 2023 will likely be pretty close to even with the total PPV buys for Full Gear 2022.
