Various: Mickie James Injury Update, AAA Triplemania XXXI Monterrey Full Card, Jon Moxley on OTT Issues

Mickie James Rib Injury Status Update

As noted before, Mickie James was pulled from this past Friday’s Impact Sacrifice 2023 event in Windsor, Canada due to her recently suffering a rib injury.

A recent episode of the Busted Open Radio podcast featured James as the guest. One of the topics discussed included James providing an update on the status of her rib injury.

“I’m good. I’m grateful. It could have been a lot worse. A broken rib, that’s a couple of weeks. If I can just get healed up. It did suck. When you know when there is something wrong, it sucks and it’s painful, but I feel better now than I did when it first happened. When they first looked at it, they were thinking it was a cartilage tear between the ribcage, and that would have been three months of healing time, plus the comeback. I’m almost grateful that it was just a broken rib. That means six to eight weeks. We’ll see what the doctor says.

It’s frustrating, it’s very frustrating. I was really looking forward to the rematch with Jordynne. I felt like our first match was so good and she pushed me to my limits for sure, so I was excited about that, a round two, and I was excited about Multiverse United, not only because it was going to be in a four-way with four incredibly talented women, but also because it was this cross promotional thing with New Japan. To be taken out of that, you always know it’s a possibility, but you’d rather get pinned before you get hurt, because getting hurt is a whole reset.”

James also stated that it was both her and Impact’s decision to give a time limit for her to be medically cleared by next month’s Rebellion 2023 event or else she would relinquish her Impact Knockouts World Championship.

“It was a both decision. If it’s going to put me out two pay-per-views, that is too long for the Knockouts World Championship to not be defended. It’s not fair to the division or the women on the roster. I’m hoping and praying the doctor will clear me and we’ll be good, but it’s right on the window. I felt like it was the best business decision. If that’s the case, then perhaps I did need more time to heal and come back.”

Jon Moxley Commets on Missing OTT ScrapperMania 7 for AEW House Rules Event

As noted before, Jon Moxley was pulled from Over the Top’s Scrappermania 7 event earlier this month in Dublin, Ireland due to him being double booked for AEW’s House Rules house show event in Troy, Ohio on that same day.

A recent episode of The Sessions with Renee Paquette podcast featured Moxley as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Moxley’s thoughts on missing OTT’s event due to scheduling issues and promising to make it up to OTT.

“I don’t know how many (Indies) I’ll do this year. What I don’t like is, I have to be really cognizant of not pushing myself too hard. I’m a very foot-to-the-gas pedal person, and I don’t know any different. If I’m feeling really great, I’ll be like, ‘I’ll book myself for six Saturdays in a row and wrestle 20 minutes on Dynamite every week.’ Then you get halfway through that and you’re like, ‘Oh man, I’m pretty beat up. Maybe I should take a week off,’ but then it’s too late because if I do an Indie show, tickets are sold and the whole thing is built around me and they’re streaming it. I can’t just call off. I have to go. Then, I have commitments to AEW. The thing with OTT the other week, I was fucking furious about, just because…totally happy to do a house show. You’re telling me I’m doing a show and I only have to drive 90 miles, great, what better way to spend a Saturday night. I was already booked on that day. It’s just this weight, the days that I missed when I was in rehab, I missed a DEFY show, a bunch of AEW shows, and a pay-per-view. Having that weight on my back of a date that I feel I have to make up, I feel so bad about it. I hate having that weight. Now, I still have to go to OTT. I probably shouldn’t advertise it because I don’t want to jinx it. I’m just going to show up. I will make that day up. Sorry about that unfortunate circumstance, fans in Ireland.”
