AEW: Nigel McGuinness Signs Contract, Brian Cage Contract Expired, Tony Khan on Tonight’s Big Announcement

Nigel McGuinness Signs Contract with AEW

This past Friday’s Supercard of Honor 2023 for Ring of Honor featured the surprise return of Nigel McGuinness. McGuinness joined the commentary team for the event and this was his first appearance in ROH since December of 2016.

AEW CEO Tony Khan announced earlier today on Twitter that McGuinness recently signed an official contract with AEW.

It is currently not known if McGuinness’ contract also includes ROH.


Brain Cage Reportedly Working Without Contract in AEW

As noted before, Brian Cage’s contract with AEW and Ring of Honor is believed to have expired after this past Friday’s ROH Supercard of Honor 2023 event.

Fightful Select reported that their sources confirmed that Cage’s contract with AEW and ROH had expired at midnight following ROH’s Supercard of Honor 2023 event.

It was reported that AEW officials have offered a long-term contract on the table for Cage and have had productive conversations with Cage for a potential new deal to keep him in the company.

It was reported that there had been attempts from AEW and ROH officials to add injury time to Cage’s contract but Cage had successful pushed back on those attempts. It was also reported that there were several powerful names in AEW who had pushed for him to sign a new deal, as well as, powerful names from WWE’s roster who were hopeful of him joining them instead.


Tony Khan Comments on Upcoming Big Announcement at Tonight’s Dynamite Show

AEW CEO Tony Khan announced last week that he will be making a new major announcement during tonight’s AEW Dynamite show in Long Island, New York.

Sports Illustrated held a recent interview with Khan. One of the topics discussed included Khan’s thoughts on his upcoming big announcement at tonight’s Dynamite show.

“This is something I’ve dreamed of for years. It’s a huge milestone for AEW, and I can’t wait to talk about it. There will be fans around the world who will be excited—it is one of the most important announcements ever in AEW.”
