CM Punk Reportedly Has Informed AEW He Wants to Come Back to Company

As noted before, CM Punk has been out of action for AEW since this past September due to his ongoing suspension over his involvement in a backstage fight at this past September’s All Out 2022 event. Prior to a recent online incident, Punk and AEW officials had been working on a reconciliation plan for Punk’s return to the company.

A recent episode of the FTR with Dax Harwood podcast featured co-host Dax Harwood stating that he has been in regular talks with Punk who has told him that he misses wrestling and wants to come back to AEW.

“On top of that, I will say that I talk to Punk almost every day and Punk misses wrestling, that’s your headline: Punk misses wrestling and Punk wants to come back and he wants to give back to the fans, he wants to give back to wrestling. So, I’ll leave it at that.”

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Punk has held repeated talks with AEW officials over his desire to want to come back to the company.

Those spoken to reportedly stated that Punk has laid out several scenarios that he would be willing to return to AEW. One of the scenarios reportedly included his willingness to work with Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks. It was reported that Omega nor the Young Bucks did not seem interested in wanting to work with Punk again at one point several months ago but it is currently not known if they have changed their stance since then.

Another scenario reportedly included Punk suggesting that he would be willing to return to work for AEW but for him to be completely separate from The Elite. It was reported that several AEW talent held the belief that AEW’s rumored upcoming new Saturday television show could be used to help facilitate this idea. High level AEW sources spoken to reportedly have not confirmed this to be a plan under consideration by AEW officials.

Punk reportedly had also told AEW that he would be open to working elsewhere but it is currently not known if that means him still working within the auspices of AEW for Ring of Honor or him leaving and working for other companies, such as WWE and New Japan Pro Wrestling.

In regards to Harwood’s recent suggestion of a potential dream match between The Elite and CM Punk & FTR, it was reported that it is currently not known if AEW officials have considered this idea for their upcoming All In show at Wembley Stadium.
