Update on CM Punk’s Return to AEW & AEW’s Third TV Show Plans

As noted before, AEW is currently planning for CM Punk to make his official return to the company at their Forbidden Door 2 go-home Dynamite show this June in Chicago, Illinois. AEW is also currently planning for their upcoming third weekly television show to feature a “soft” roster split related to Punk’s return to the company.

Andrew Zarian reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that his sources provided some new details regarding AEW’s plans for CM Punk’s upcoming return and their upcoming new television show.

In regards to CM Punk, Zarian reported that his sources stated that Warner Bros Discovery officials have been informed and are fully aware of Punk’s upcoming return to AEW.The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega reportedly were still not interested in working with Punk again as of this past week. Zarian also reported that there has not been any dialogue between the two sides of sitting down for a meeting to try to repair their working relationship and make things work again.

In regards to AEW’s upcoming new television show, Zarian reported that those spoken to stated that AEW’s plans for a “soft” roster split is not as soft as had previously been assumed and reported.

In regards to the planned meeting between CM Punk, Chris Jericho, FTR, and AEW CEO Tony, Zarian reported that this meeting is meant to repair the working relationship between Punk and Jericho and also work out potential plans for the top feud for the debut of AEW’s new show involving the two in some capacity. Zarian also reported that it is currently not known if FTR and the Jericho Appreciation Society will also be involved in this potential feud.

Zarian stated:

“I’ve heard this from multiple people and the way it was alluded to me is that the program will probably be Punk and Jericho in some capacity. I don’t know if FTR is involved or Jericho’s society’s involved but you know what? That’s a very smart way to do this. Jericho has presented himself as a locker room leader, Jericho came out and said he’s toxic or whatever he said, and he’s willing to make this work because he realizes that there’s money in this.”
