AEW Dynamite Notes: Jack Perry Wins FTW title, MJF & Adam Cole Win Blind Eliminator Tag Tourn., Golden Elite Win Blood & Guts

Jack Perry Wins FTW Title at Wednesday’s Dynamite Show

Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts featured Jack Perry defeated HOOK to be crowned the new FTW Championship.

The finish to this match involved Perry grabbing the FTW title and brought it into the ring only for the referee to take it away. Before the ref was able to put away the belt, he got sandwiched into the corner and taken out by Perry’s shove of HOOK into him. HOOK then hit a head and arm suplex to Perry for the visible near fall attempt but the ref was still down and unable to count. This led to HOOK turning his back on Perry and tried to revive the ref only to get struck by the FTW title by Perry while the ref was still down. Perry then covered HOOK for the pinfall victory to become the new FTW Champion. Besides taking the FTW title, Perry also broke HOOK’s undefeated record in AEW in the process.

MJF & Adam Cole Win Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament

Wednesday’s Dynamite show in Boston also featured MJF & Adam Cole defeating Sammy Guevara & Daniel Garcia to be crowned the winners of the Blind Eliminator Tag Team tournament.

The finish to this match involved Guevara tried to hit a Super Cutter to MJF only for MJF to dodge and tried to hit a Cross Rhodes in return but Guevara managed to escape as well. Garcia hit a double chop block to Cole and MJF and applied a Dragon Slayer to Cole who managed to get to the ropes and backdropped Garcia to the outside onto Guevara. Cole then told MJF to do a dive to the outside, which MJF was reluctant to do first but ended up doing it and landed onto Guevara and Garcia on the outside. Cole then hit a Panama Sunrise to Garcia and tagged in MJF for their double clothesline onto Guevara for the pinfall victory and to become the winners of the Blind Eliminator Tag tournament.

Following the match, Cole and MJF had a heated confrontation in the ring over Cole grabbing and staring at MJF’s World title. MJF ripped his title away from Cole’s hands and the two eventually cooled off and hugged. FTR then came out and had a staredown with Cole and MJF, who will be challenging for FTR’s AEW World Tag Team titles as a result of their tournament victory at the July 29th AEW Collision show.

Golden Elite Wins This Year’s Blood & Guts Match

Wednesday’s Dynamite show in Boston also featured the Golden Elite (Kenny Omega, Hangman Adam Page, The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson), & Kota Ibushi) defeating Blackpool Combat Club’s team (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Konosuke Takeshita, & PAC) in a very physical and bloody war of a Blood & Guts match.

The finish to this match involved Omega hitting PAC with a Snap Dragon onto broken glass and then tried to hit a One Winged Angel only for PAC to counter it with a Brutalizer. The BCC’s team applied submissions to everyone except Matt Jackson who was given a Giant Swing by Claudio instead. After some more action, Castagnoli accidentally hit PAC causing the two to start arguing in the ring before it was broken up by Moxley, Yuta, and Takeshita. PAC then grabbed a bolt cutters from under the ring and broke open the cage door and left the match but not before slamming the door onto Castagnoli’s face. Omega then hit the remaining members of BCC’s team with Snap Dragons. Page hit a Buckshot Lariat to Castagnoli and followed it with him and Omega hitting a Buckshot Trigger to Yuta. Moxley was then handcuffed to the ropes causing Don Callis to pull Takeshita out of the cage and the duo walked away. This led to Golden Elite having a 5-on-3 advantage and Yuta’s face being rammed by Nick Jackson onto the bottom of Matt Jackson’s shoe that was covered in thumbtacks. Page then wrapped a chain around Yuta’s neck and got choked out by Page and Matt Jackson for the ref stoppage decision for the Golden Elite’s Blood & Guts match victory.
