AEW All In Media Scrum: Cash Wheeler Status, All In Live Gate Update, Card Changes Expected, Sting, The Elite, Future UK Events

AEW CEO Tony Khan held a media scrum earlier today to promote this Sunday’s All In event at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

Some of the notable highlights included:

  • On the topic of the upcoming Young Bucks vs. FTR match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship at All In, Khan praised both teams for being two of the best tag teams of all time. Khan also stated that he felt that London was the best place for the rubber match of their series.
  • On the topic of Cash Wheeler’s recent legal issues and arrest, Khan stated “As for things that have happened outside of the ring, I can’t comment on the specifics at this time because I still don’t know everything. We’re still learning facts. Based on the information we have at this time, we’re still keeping an eye on that situation. At this time, I think it’s a very inconclusive situation. It differs from other times where we’ve come in and weighed in or acted on a situation based on the evidence because, in this case, with everything we’re looking at, I don’t think we have those facts right now. At this point, I think it’s rather inconclusive. I do very much look forward to the match and we’ll keep an eye out throughout this weekend and as long as it’s a pending situation.” Khan also gave his thoughts on when he first found out about Wheeler’s legal issues. Khan stated “Because of the nature of it, I’ll be honest, it’s not like I’ve known for a long time, but on the other hand, I have tried to gather all the facts and information. I still think we don’t have all the facts here. I don’t want to comment too much on the situation, but we’re still gathering information and that’s what I’ve been trying to do for several days.
  • On the topic of All In’s current live gate, Khan stated that AEW currently has generated around $10 million for the event’s live gate revenues. Khan also stated that AEW has currently distributed around 80,000 tickets for their upcoming event.
  • On the topic of the original All In, Khan stated that AEW is currently working on a video package for their All In event that will feature footage from the original All In event to connect the two shows together.
  • On the topic of the current storyline involving MJF and Adam Cole, Khan stated that he currently feels that it has been the one of the best storylines in AEW history. Khan stated that he loves working with MJF and Cole and their storyline has been a blessing for the company and All In.
  • On the topic of future international events, Khan stated that this is something AEW is currently considering doing for the future.
  • On the topic of All In’s current card, Khan stated that fans can expect more changes for the card of All In and some of these changes were not originally planned to be made. Khan stated “I expect more changes. They are not changes I wanted to make or planned to make. I’m not talking about the World Championship match or even the World Tag Team Title match. There will probably be some other changes to the card necessitated by things happening in the real world. Stuff, in some cases, stuff that is nobody’s fault, but stuff that is not related to the world of professional wrestling. I am going to try to work through this week to make it as strong as possible and hopefully make the card better than it had been. There will be changes to the card. I plan to add something, and I might have to make some changes in the body of the card. They are not changes that will change the quality of the show and I’m glad the big matches are in such a good position right now. After you see some changes, whether it’s the scrum or whenever, I can talk to you more about when and why I decided to do those. It’s not like they were things where even a week or two I knew about or was expecting to have to change. That’s part of pro wrestling.
  • On the topic of current injuries in AEW, Khan stated that while there has not been that many injuries, he did have plans for Bryan Danielson, PAC, and Jamie Hayter to all be strongly featured for All In prior to their injuries.
  • On the topic of the sales success for All In and the general success of AEW, Khan stated that his father and co-owner Shad Khan has been very happy over it. Khan praised his father for being the person to make it possible for him to launch AEW. Khan also stated that his father was never that big of a wrestling fan but still took him to a lot of wrestling shows because he wanted to do it for his son.
  • On the topic of Sting’s future in AEW and his wrestling career, Khan stated “Sting is very well aware that I would like him to stay as long as he feels physically up to wrestling. I think he enjoys doing it and he’s having a lot of fun. Sometimes you hit on things in life that you think are going to be good and they turn out to be great. For me, a good example of that is Sting and Darby together. Not just on screen, but off-screen too. There have been so many great memories for Sting in AEW. I don’t want it to end. I won’t be the one to pull the plug on it. When the time comes, Sting knows he needs to the one to say, ‘I don’t want to do this anymore,’ because I’m going to let him go as long as he wants. I want him to stay as long as he can. It’s so important to me that we let Sting finish his career the right way.
  • On the topic of Warner Bros Discovery’s current view of AEW, Khan stated that he believes that WBD officials view AEW as a live sporting event alongside their other sports properties. Khan stated that him and his father Shad had visited WBD CEO David Zaslav during the holidays and the first thing Zaslav said was that Tony was “killing it” in regards to being happy over AEW’s performance.
  • On the topic of The Elite’s new deals with AEW, Khan stated that while he would need to check the paperwork for exact dates, he stated that they do not all start and end at the same day. Khan also was non-committal on the exact length and only stated that they were signed to “multi-year” deals.
  • On the topic of future AEW events in the United Kingdom, Khan hinted that there will be more in the U.K. in the future coming out of this Sunday’s All In event.
