AEW Dynamite Notes: Santana, Ortiz, & Billy Gunn Surprise Returns, One New Match & Two Updated Matches for All In

Santana & Ortiz Make Surprise Returns, Rey Fenix Suffers “Injury”, & Updated Stadium Stampede Match

Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Fyter Fest 2023 show in Duluth, Georgia featured a singles match between Rey Fenix and Jon Moxley, which was won by Moxley.

Following the match, the Blackpool Combat Club attached Fenix resulting in Penta El Zero Miedo and Eddie Kingston coming out for the save only to be stopped by Ortiz who was carrying a sock full of baseball. Before Kingston and Penta could make sense of what was going on, Santana made his surprise return from injury and proceeded to attack Penta while Ortiz attacked Kingston. BCC, Ortiz, and Santana were run off by the Best Friends and Orange Cassidy but not before they left Fenix motionless in the ring. Kingston, Penta, and the Best Friends looked on in concern as Fenix was taken out of the ring on a stretcher.

Later in the show, AEW commentator Excalibur announced that the Stadium Stampede match will now be a five-on-five match with Fenix removed from Kingston’s team and Santana and Ortiz added to BCC’s team.

AR Fox Kicked out of Mogul Embassy, Updated Participants for Coffin Match

Wednesday’s Dynamite Fyter Fest 2023 show in Duluth also featured a Tornado Tag Team match of Mogul Embassy (Swerve Strickland & AR Fox) vs. Darby Allin & Nick Wayne, which was won by Allin & Wayne.

Following the match, an angry Strickland gave a promo directed towards Fox berating him for constantly being a disappointment and loser since he joined their group. Strickland stated that if Fox can’t even beat an eighteen year old, then he can’t trust him in front of 80,000 people at Wembly and told Prince Nana to do his work. Nana proceeded to fire Fox from the Mogul Embassy which led to Brian Cage coming out and laying out Fox to cement his removal from the group.

This led to Sting, Allin, & Wayne coming out and running the Mogul Embassy out of the ring. Allin stated that despite his recent actions Fox has always been there for him and put aside his differences leading to Allin and Fox hugging in the ring. Allin then asked Strickland who was going to be his new tag partner for the Coffin match at All In, which led to Strickland and Nana smiling and laughing. Strickland’s new partner was revealed to be Luchasaurus and Christian Cage. Cage proceeded to mock Wayne for having a dead dad and saying he never heard of Buddy Wayne before which means he must have been a talentless hack.

Later in the show, AEW commentator Excalibur announced that the Coffin match will now be Darby Allin & Sting vs. Swerve Strickland & Christian Cage.

Billy Gunn Makes Surprise Return, AEW Trios Titles Match Added to All In

Wednesday’s Dynamite Fyter Fest 2023 show in Duluth also featured an AEW World Trios Championship officially added to the card of AEW All In.

This match was setup following a video promo segment by House of Black who continued to claim they buried Billy Gunn’s legacy in wrestling once and for all. Following the video segment, The Acclaimed rushed to the ring and demanded for House of Black to come out for a brawl. This led to the House of Black answering and quickly laid out the Acclaimed. Before they could continue on with their attack, the Acclaimed’s music played again revealing Billy Gunn making his surprise return after teasing his retirement weeks ago. Gunn and the Acclaimed ran off HoB from the ring which led to Gunn giving a promo directed towards HoB. Gunn stated they wanted his attention which they got and was okay with calling it a career until HoB decided to hurt his “kids” and destroyed his boots since that pissed all over his Hall of Fame Legacy. Gunn then issued a challenge to HoB for their Trios titles at All In and stated that it would be all or nothing for him but they would no longer be dealing with “Daddy Ass” but instead his old “Badass” persona.
