More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for August 2nd

The August 2nd episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a slight decline in overall viewership but gained a slight increase in key demographic ratings and key demographic rankings.

AEW drew 894,000 viewers and a 0.31 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 1st place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for AEW’s mixed results was due to the large gains from their older male key demographic viewership and older female key demographic viewership groups, which were up 19.2% and 25% respectively compared to last week’s show. This mostly offset the large decline from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was down 14.2% compared to last week’s show and The Big Bang Theory drawing its lowest ever ratings for AEW’s lead programming at 820,000 viewers and a 0.15 key demographic rating.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, Real Housewives of Orange County drew 812,000 viewers on Bravo.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 406,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 78,000 viewers (down 32.2%), Females 18-34 had 62,000 viewers (up 31.9%), Males 35-49 had 186,000 viewers (up 19.2%), and Females 35-49 had 80,000 viewers (up 25%). Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 264,000 male viewers and 142,000 female viewers for a split of 65% in favor of males.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, none of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak quarter hour viewership was at 964,000 viewers for their fifth quarter while their quarter low was at 807,000 viewers for their eighth quarter.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 4.7% in overall viewership and down 4.2% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 23.6% compared to the same week last year.

  • 3Q – 917,000 overall viewers and 418,000 key demo viewers (Bulk of the Anything Goes Three-Way match of Jon Moxley vs. Trent Beretta vs. Penta El Zero Miedo)
  • 4Q – 945,000 overall viewers and 436,000 key demo viewers (Ending of the Moxley vs. Beretta vs. Penta match, the RVD backstage interview segment, and the first half of the MJF promo segment)
  • 5Q – 964,000 overall viewers and 441,000 key demo viewers (Latter half of the MJF promo with Adam Cole segment, the Roderick Strong & The Kingdom backstage segment, and the bulk of The Elite vs. Jay Lethal, Jeff Jarrett, & Satnam Singh Trios match)

More on AEW Rampage Viewership for July 28th

The July 28th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW suffer a large decline in overall viewership and a slight decline in key demographic ratings.

AEW drew 324,000 viewers and a 0.10 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 32nd place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines that week was due to the very large drop in their Over 50 viewership group, which the percentage was not stated, and the large decline from their overall key demographic viewership group, which was down 10.5% compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 128,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 40,000 viewers, Females 18-34 had 11,000 viewers, AEW’s Males 35-49 had 51,000 viewers and Females 18-35 had 39,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that week’s Rampage did not rank in the youngest skewing sports shows for the week while that week’s Dynamite show was the sixth youngest and Collision was the seventh youngest skewing sports show.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 13.6% in overall viewership and down 8.6% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was up 37.9% compared to the same week last year.

AEW Rampage quarter hour viewership breakdowns were:

  • 1Q – 377,000 overall viewers and 160,000 key demo viewers (Bulk of the Tag Team Battle Royal match)
  • 2Q – 347,000 overall viewers and 143,000 key demo viewers (Ending of the Tag Team Battle Royal match, the Kingdom video promo segment, and the start of the Komander vs. Kip Sabian match)
  • 3Q – 283,000 overall viewers and 111,000 key demo viewers (Bulk of the Komander vs. Sabian match, the Jack Perry & Jerry Lynn video segment, the Kingdom vs. Hayden Backlund & Myung-Jae Lee tag team match, and the Dark Order video promo segment)
  • 4Q – 291,000 overall viewers and 99,000 key demo viewers (Nyla Rose vs. Hikaru Shida match and post-match angle with The Outcasts)

More on AEW Collision Viewership for July 29th

The July 29th episode of AEW Collision saw AEW gain a very large increase in overall viewership, a large increase in key demographic ratings, and a slight increase in key demographic rankings.

AEW drew 739,000 viewers and a 0.27 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 2nd place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for AEW’s increases that week was due to the very large gains from three of their four key demographic viewership groups, which was up 62.9% for Males 18-34, up 61.5% for Males 35-49, and up 67.3% for Females 35-49 compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the very stiff sports competition that night and the large decline from their younger female key demographic viewership group, which was down 33.3% compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the UFC prelims simulcast drew 1,958,000 viewers on ABC and 837,000 viewers on ESPN, Saturday Night Baseball game drew 2,649,000 viewers on FOX, and Mega Sharks Dangerous Reef drew 621,000 viewers on Discovery Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 354,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 101,000 viewers (up 62.9%), Females 18-34 had 24,000 viewers (down 33.3%), Males 35-49 had 147,000 viewers (up 61.5%), and Females 35-49 had 82,000 viewers (up 67.3%). Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership skew was 248,000 male viewers and 106,000 female viewers for a split of 70.3% in favor of males.
