More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for September 27th

The September 27th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a very large decline in overall viewership, a large decline in key demographic ratings, and a slight decline in key demographic rankings.

AEW drew 855,000 viewers and a 0.28 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 3rd place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines this week was due to very still competition from the Republican Presidential Debate on Fox News and the season premiere of Survivor on CBS. Another reason reportedly was due to the large declines suffered from their younger key demographic viewership and older female key demographic viewership groups, which were down 23.7% and 31.6% compared to last week’s show. Meltzer reported that AEW’s key demographic viewership was its lowest since their June 28th episode.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the Republican Presidential Debate drew 6,693,000 viewers on FOX News, Survivor drew 5,067,000 viewers on CBS, the MLB simulcast games of Houston vs. Seattle and San Diego vs. San Francisco drew 169,000 viewers on MLB Network, and Real Housewives of Orange County drew 781,000 viewers on BRAVO.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 365,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was 83,000 viewers (down 32.5%), Females 18-34 was 46,000 viewers (equal), Males 35-49 was 169,000 viewers (down 16.5%), and Females 35-49 was 67,000 viewers (down 31.6%). Meltzer reported that AEW’s male/female viewership split was 252,000 male viewers and 113,000 female viewers for a split of 69% in favor of males.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, none of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak quarter hour viewership was at 943,000 viewers for their fifth quarter while their quarter low was at 753,000 viewers for their eighth quarter.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 13.6% in overall viewership and down 17.6% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 21% compared to the same week last year.

More on AEW Rampage Viewership for September 22nd

The September 22nd episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a large increase in key demographic rankings and a small increase in overall viewership and key demographic ratings. That week’s show was the two-hour Rampage Grand Slam 2023 special.

AEW drew 341,000 viewers and a 0.12 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 21st place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s increases that week was due to the large gains from their younger demographic viewership, older male key demographic viewership, and older female key demographic viewership groups, which were up 18.9%, 31%, and 63% respectively compared to the prior week’s show. Meltzer reported that Rampage drew 374,000 viewers during its first hour for normal Rampage show comparisons.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the College Football game of North Carolina State vs. Virginia drew 1,592,000 viewers on ESPN, the College Football game of Wisconsin vs. Purdue drew 1,193,0000 viewers on FS1, the College Football game of Air Force vs. San Jose State drew 512,000 viewers on FS1, 90 Day Fiance First Look drew 570,000 viewers on TLC, Love After Lockup drew 444,000 viewers on WETV, On Patrol Live drew 690,000 viewers, and House Hunters drew 962,000 viewers on Home and Garden TV.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 163,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 28,000 viewers (up 7.7%), Females 18-34 had 16,000 viewers (up 45.5%), Males 35-49 had 76,000 viewers (up 31%), and Females 18-35 had 44,000 viewers (up 63%). Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership skew was 104,000 male viewers and 60,000 female viewers for a split of 63.9% in favor of males.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 34.7% in overall viewership and down 26.6% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 37.1% compared to the same week last year.

The September 23rd episode of AEW Collision saw AEW gain a large increase in overall viewership, key demographic ratings, and key demographic rankings.

AEW drew 562,000 viewers and a 0.18 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 13th place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s increases was due to the very large gains from their younger male key demographic viewership group, which was up 380% compared to the prior week’s show, and Over 50 viewership group, which its percentage increase was not given. This reportedly offset the large declines from their younger female key demographic viewership, older male key demographic viewership, and older female key demographic viewership groups, which were down 40%, 4.7%, and 14% respectively compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the College Football game of Ohio State vs. Notre Dame drew 9,980,000 viewers on NBC, the College Football game of Iowa vs Penn State drew 2,750,000 viewers on CBS, the College Football game of Texas vs. Baylor drew 2,628,000 viewers on ABC, the College Football game of Arkansas vs. Louisiana State drew 2,442,000 viewers on ESPN, the College Football game of Oregon State vs. Washington State drew 1,477,000 viewers on FOX, the College Football game of Georgia vs. Alabama-Birmingham drew 1,080,000 viewers on ESPN2, the College Football game of Central Florida vs. Kansas State drew 531,000 viewers on FS1, and On Patrol Live drew 428,000 viewers on REELZ Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 235,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 72,000 viewers (up 380%), Females 18-34 had 12,000 viewers (down 40%), Males 35-49 had 102,000 viewers (down 4.7%), and Females 35-49 had 49,000 viewers (down 14%). Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership skew was 174,000 male viewers and 61,000 female viewers for a split of 74% in favor of males.
