Kenny Omega Pulled from AEW Worlds End Event & AEW Tag Titles Match Status for Worlds End Uncertain

Wednesday’s Dynamite show also featured the announcement of Kenny Omega being officially pulled from AEW’s Worlds End event on December 30th in Long Island, New York.

This announcement was made following a backstage promo segment by Chris Jericho. During his promo, Jericho confirmed that Omega will no longer be competing at AEW’s upcoming Worlds End event due to him suffering from diverticulitis. Jericho also stated that it is currently not known how long Omega will be out of action but wished him well on his recovery.

Jericho also stated that as a result of Omega’s injury, the currently scheduled match of the Golden Jets vs. Big Bill & Ricky Starks for the AEW World Tag Team Championship will no longer be taking place and AEW is currently looking into new options for a potential AEW Tag titles match at the event.

ROH World Tag Team Titles Match Announced for Dec. 27th Dynamite Show

Wednesday’s Dynamite show also featured one new match announced for the card of the December 27th AEW Dynamite show in Orlando, Florida.

This is a ROH World Tag Team Championship match of AEW Devil’s mystery team vs. Samoa Joe & MJF (c).

This match was setup following an in-ring promo segment and brawl involving MJF, Joe, the AEW Devil, and the AEW Devil’s masked minions. During their promo, MJF and Joe got into a heated argument over MJF claiming Joe failed his promise to protect him until their AEW World title match at Worlds End. MJF and Joe also got into an argument over the other being the identity of the devil and denying each other’s accusation. This eventually lead to a lot of the AEW Devil’s masked minions flooding the ring and engaging in a brawl with MJF and Joe, who managed to fight off the minions. The lights then went off and when it returned, all of the minions disappeared and the AEW Devil showed up on the big screen. After taunting MJF, the AEW Devil issued a challenge to MJF and Joe for their ROH World Tag Team titles at next week’s Dynamite show. While MJF had expected Joe to be upset and not want to team up with him, Joe grabbed MJF’s microphone and yelled out that he accepted the challenge.

Riho vs. Toni Storm for AEW Women’s World Title Set for AEW Worlds End

Wednesday’s Dynamite show also featured Riho defeating Saraya in a #1 Contender’s match to secure a shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship at AEW’s Worlds End event on December 30th.

Following Riho’s victory over Saraya, current AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm was carried down to the ring by Luther. Storm confronted Riho and pulled out opera style binoculars in order to see Riho mocking Riho’s small size. This led to Riho getting up close to Storm and a brawl breaking out with Riho standing tall. Riho then leaned over Storm and made the motion of Storm’s title belt being around her waist soon leading to Mariah May coming out and attacking Riho from behind with the belt. While May wanted Storm to acknowledge her for helping her out, Storm gave a bewildered look acting as if she had no clue who May was and was carried to the back by Luther.

Current confirmed card for AEW Worlds End:

  • AEW World Championship – Samoa Joe vs. MJF (c)
  • AEW Women’s World Championship – Riho vs. Toni Storm (c)
  • AEW Continental Classic Finals – Winner of Gold League vs. Winner of Blue League
