More on NXT Viewership for December 26, 2023

The December 26th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT gain a small increase in overall viewership and a slight increase in key demographic ratings but suffered a small decline in key demographic rankings.

NXT drew 670,000 viewers and a 0.19 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking was 10th place.

Detailed key demographic viewership breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reasons for NXT’s increases this week was due to the large gains from their younger female key demographic viewership, older male key demographic viewership, and older female key demographic viewership groups, which were up 30.8%, 22.8%, and 26.8% respectively compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the tougher than usual sports competition that night from College football and the large decline from their younger male key demographic viewership group, which was down 28.4% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the College football Guaranteed Rate Bowl game of Kansas vs. UNLV drew 2,691,000 viewers on ESPN, the College football First Responder Bowl game of 2,796,000 viewers on ESPN, the NBA game of Indiana Pacers vs. Houston Rockets drew 320,000 viewers on NBA TV, Moonshiners drew 619,000 viewers on Discovery Channel, Curse of Oak Island drew 1,314,000 viewers on History Channel, Catfish drew 414,000 viewers on MTV, 1000-LB Sisters drew 1,005,000 viewers on TLC, and 1000-LB Sisters Supersize drew 571,000 viewers on TLC.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 253,000 viewers. NXT’s Males 18-34 was 48,000 viewers (down 28.4%), Females 18-34 was 51,000 viewers (up 30.8%), Males 35-49 was 97,000 viewers (up 22.8%), and Females 35-49 was 52,000 viewers (up 26.8%). Meltzer reported that NXT’s male/female viewership split was 145,000 male viewers and 103,000 female viewers for a split of 57.3% in favor of males. Meltzer also reported that NXT’s male skew that week was much lower than what wrestling television shows in general have been averaging for male skews of late.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was up 13.9% in overall viewership and up 55.2% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that NXT’s 18-34 viewership was up 65.1% compared to the same week last year.
