Fallon Henley & Tyler Bate Advances to Men’s & Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge Matches

Tuesday’s taped NXT show featured one Women’s and one Men’s Last Chance qualifying matches for the Women’s and Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge matches at WWE’s NXT Deadline 2023 event, which takes place on December 9th in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

The first match was Fallon Henley defeating Thea Hail, Kiana James, and Roxanne Perez in a Women’s Last Chance Iron Survivor Challenge Qualifier match.

The finish to the match involved Perez and James fighting on the outside leading to both James and Perez climbing up the guard rail right next to the announcer’s table. James grabbed Perez’s arm and pulled both of them down crashing onto the announcer’s table and breaking it in the process. In the ring, Hail hit an O’Connor Roll to Henley for a nearfall. Henley then hit a Shinning Wizard to Hail for the pinfall victory to advance to the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge match.

The second match was Tyler Bate defeating Joe Coffey, Carmelo Hayes, and Eddy Thorpe in a Men’s Last Challenge Iron Survivor Challenge Qualifier match.

The finish to this match involved Hayes attempting a springboard attack to Coffey only for Coffey to counter with a Glasgow Kiss. Coffey then attempted a flying forearm off the top rope to Bate only for Bate to counter it with a European Uppercut. Bate did the same to Hayes who also attempted a top rope attack. Bate then hit a Tyler Driver 97 to Coffey for the pinfall victory to advance to the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge match.

Bate joins Bron Breakker, Josh Briggs, Trick Williams, and Dijak for the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge match while Henley joins Kelani Jordan, Blair Davenport, Lash Legend and Tiffany Stratton for the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge match at this Saturday’s NXT Deadline 2023 event.


Wes Lee Suffered Back Injury & Pull from NXT Deadline 2023, Dragon Lee vs. Dominik Mysterio for North American Title Announced

Tuesday’s NXT show featured Wes Lee announcing that he recently suffered a serious injury and has been pulled from this Saturday’s NXT Deadline 2023 event.

During an in-ring promo segment, a somber Lee stated that while he had been looking forward to smacking Dominik Mysterio around the arena and defeating him for the NXT North American Championship at NXT Deadline 2023, this will not be happening. After some more words, Lee revealed that he recently suffered a serious injury that has affected his feeling in his legs and is in excruciating pain standing in the ring. Lee also stated that he will need to undergo surgery and he does not know when he will be back again but claimed that he will return to further cement his legacy as one of the best ever in NXT.

Before Lee could leave, Mysterio’s came out and started mocking Lee and revealed that Lee had suffered a back injury. Mysterio bragged about how his back must feel carrying all of WWE for the past two years and claimed that he now gets the weekend off and is going to spend more time with “Mami.” Lee interrupted stating that while he will not be wrestling, Mysterio will still be defending his title at this Saturday’s Deadline 2023 show. Lee then told Mysterio to listen to someone who he is more closely related to and pointed towards the big screen. Rey Mysterio appeared and stated that Dominik will be defending his title this Saturday and he will be in the corner of the man that he claims will take that title. Rey stated that this man is the future of Lucha Libre and someone Dominik knows, who was revealed to be Dragon Lee.

In regards to Lee’s injury, NXT commentator Vic Joseph confirmed afterwards that Lee had suffered a serious back injury and will be out of action for at least eight to twelve months as a result.


Two New Matches Announced for NXT Deadline 2023, Updated Card

Tuesday’s NXT show also featured three new matches officially announced for this Saturday’s NXT Deadline 2023 event.

The first new match announced was a singles match of Roxanne Perez vs. Kiana James.

This match was initially setup following Perez and James having heated issues with each other over the past couple of months. During tonight’s show Perez and James’ issues with each other resulted in them costing the other the chance in a Last Chance Qualifier match at being the final competitor for the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge match at NXT Deadline 2023. In a follow-up backstage segment, Perez and James were involved in another backstage segment that resulted in them being pulled apart by security and NXT officials and Ava stating that she would get a match for them made at NXT Deadline. In another follow-up backstage segment, Ava revealed that she managed to get a match made official for Perez and James and that it would be held as a Steel Cage match.

The second new match announced was a singles match of Lexis King vs. Carmeo Hayes. This match was initially setup following Trick Williams accusing Hayes in recent weeks of being his mystery attacker and working with King behind his back. During tonight’s show, Williams confronted Hayes after a video was revealed by the mystery NXT Anonymous person showing Hayes texting someone after Williams left after having a recent talk with him backstage. In a follow-up segment, Williams confronted Hayes for a second time demanding an answer from him which Hayes stated that he wasn’t working with King and would settle this issue by beating up King at NXT Deadline.

The third new match announced was a Kickoff pre-show singles match of Axiom vs. Nathan Frazer.

This match was setup following a backstage segment involving Axiom and Frazer challenging each other to a match to see who was the better of the two. This match resulted in a no contest following a mass women’s brawl breaking out from backstage and spilling into the ring during their match. Later in the show, it was announced that Axiom and Frazer would be getting a rematch and that it would be taking place at the Kickoff show for this Saturday’s NXT Deadline 2023 show.

2023 NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament Announced & Starts at Next Week’s NXT Show

Tuesday’s NXT show also featured WWE announcing that this year’s NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament will be taking place starting at next week’s show on December 12th.

The full eight-man field for this year’s tournament was also officially revealed as part of WWE’s announcement.
