WWE & Jey Uso Announces Return of Uso’s “Yeet” Phrase

As noted before, WWE dropped Jey Uso’s “Yeet” catchphrase and pull all of his merchandise containing that phrase last week due to a recently legal issue over the trademark for that term. This trademark was later discovered to have been rejected and given “dead” status by the United States Patent and Trademark Office opening the door for WWE to be able to legally use the term again.

Prior to the start of Monday’s RAW show in Cleveland, WWE confirmed the official return of Uso’s “Yeet” catchphrase and merchandise.

During the show, Uso came out wearing his “Yeet” shirt and gave a promo in the ring stating how happy he was that his “Yeet” was back. Uso also talked about being excited that CM Punk is in the building tonight and asked the fans to chant “Yeet” if they wanted Punk to join the RAW brand. Uso’s happy mood was cut short by Drew McIntyre who came out to interrupt leading to some banter and afterwards the start of their scheduled match.

Sami Zayn Knee Injury Update

As noted before, Sami Zayn suffered a storyline knee injury at last week’s RAW show in Albany, New York that was done due to Zayn recently being granted some time off for a break.

During tonight’s RAW show, RAW commentator Michael Cole provided an injury update stating that Zayn had suffered a partially torn meniscus. Cole also stated that Zayn was still being medically evaluated and additional details are not known.

CM Punk Signs with RAW Brand & Declares Himself for Men’s Royal Rumble Match

Monday’s RAW show also featured CM Punk making his official decision on which brand he will sign an exclusive contract with.

During an in-ring promo, CM Punk spoke about his recent visits to SmackDown and NXT and his talks with Nick Alids and Shawn Michaels. Punk stated that the offer he received from RAW General Manager Adam Pearce is a lot more enticing than what he had relieved from the other two. Punk then went on a long talk about his past history with this venue not being kind to him, the reasons why he left WWE a decade ago, and his return to the company. Punk also stated that he apologizes to everyone who was upset over him walking out of WWE. After some more words, Punk stated that he made his decision and will be officially joining the RAW brand.

After Punk signed the contract, Seth Rollins came out to interrupt and bashed Punk for calling this place, WWE, his home after what he had done after he left. Rollins stated that Punk abandoned WWE ten years ago, spent those 10 years slandering him and every person in the locker room, and now dares to come back and call this place his home. Rollins then stated that this was not Punk’s home but Rollins’ home and he will do everything in his power to protect it from people like Punk. After some more words, Rollins stated that he hates Punk but if Punk wants to work in WWE again, then he wants him on RAW. Rollins then spoke teasing a future match between him and Punk for his WWE World Heavyweight title just so that he can prove that Punk is not on his level and there is a huge gap on who really is the best in the world.

Punk grabbed a microphone and responded stating that he will grant Rollins this one time to disrespect him and claimed that he has never asked for anything before in wrestling. Punk stated that he wants Pearce to make one thing official, which he revealed to be himself officially entering the Men’s Royal Rumble match. Punk also stated that after he wins, he might just come after Rollins.

WWE World Title Match Announced for WWE RAW Day 1 2024 Show

Monday’s RAW show also featured the announcement of the return of WWE’s Day 1 themed series for the January 1, 2024 RAW show and the first official match for the event’s card.

This was setup following a backstage segment involving Drew McIntyre, CM Punk, and RAW General Manager Adam Pearce. CM Punk walked up to McIntyre and Pearce who were seen talking backstage. This led to McIntyre stating that he does not care about Punk nor Cody Rhodes’ finishing their stories. McIntyre also stated that since Punk was here, he might as well reveal what he was talking to Pearce about, which was him being granted a title match for Seth Rollins’ WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the Day 1 2024 special episode of RAW on January 1, 2024.
