As noted before, Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Homecoming 2024 show at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida featured the Young Bucks making their surprise return to the company and being teased to be Sting’s final opponent for his retirement match at AEW’s Revolution 2024 event.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Sting has a major say on who his opponents will be for his retirement match at Revolution 2024. It was reported that Sting has been adamant about wanting to have a tag team match for his retirement match and was on board with the plans presented to him several weeks ago for the Young Bucks to be his final opponents.
It was reported that AEW CEO Tony Khan has viewed Sting’s sendoff from wrestling as being very important to him and wants to do everything to accommodate Sting for his road to his retirement match, including bringing in Ric Flair to the company to be alongside Sting.
In regards to the Young Bucks, it was reported that their recent character shift and break from AEW was part of these plans for Sting’s retirement match and their change in direction in the company.
