More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for January 31st

The January 31st episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a small decline in overall viewership and a slight decline in key demographic ratings and key demographic rankings.

AEW drew 818,000 viewers and a 0.26 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 4th place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines this week was due to the large decline suffered from their younger key demographic group, which was down 27.4% compared to last week’s show, and the show not really recovering their viewership decline after its first 30 minutes. This reportedly offset the gains from their older male key demographic viewership and older female key demographic viewership groups, which were up 8.8% and 18.2% respectively compared to last week’s show.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Phoenix Suns vs. Brooklyn Nets drew 1,411,000 viewers on ABC, the College basketball game of Florida vs. Kentucky drew 1,081,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of Providence vs. UCONN drew 349,000 viewers on FS1, the College basketball game of Vanderbilt vs. Auburn drew 159,000 viewers on ESPN2, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drew 1,107,000 viewers on BRAVO, Sistas Series drew 860,000 viewers on BET, and Challenge New Champion drew 481,000 viewers on MTV.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 337,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was 78,000 viewers (down 25.7%), Females 18-34 was 36,000 viewers (down 30.8%), Males 35-49 was 161,000 viewers (up 8.8%), and Females 35-49 was 65,000 viewers (up 18.2%). Meltzer reported that AEW’s male/female viewership split was 239,000 male viewers and 98,000 female viewers for a split of 70.9% in favor of males.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, none of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak quarter hour viewership was at 981,000 viewers for their first quarter while their quarter low was at 759,000 viewers for their seventh quarter.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 9.2% in overall viewership and down 16% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 27.4% compared to the same week last year.

More on AEW Rampage Viewership for January 26th

The January 26th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a large increase in key demographic rankings and a slight increase in key demographic ratings but also suffered a slight decline in overall viewership.

AEW drew 382,000 viewers and a 0.13 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 16th place

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s mixed results that week was due to the large gains from their younger key demographic viewership, which was up 43.6% compared to the prior week’s show. Another reason reportedly was due to the small gain from their older female key demographic viewership group, which was up 2.6% compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly was mostly offset by the decline from their Over 50 viewership, which its percentage was not stated, and older male key demographic viewership group, which was down 2.6% compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Portland Trailbalzers vs. San Antonio Spurs drew 490,000 viewers on NBA TV, the NBA game of Dallas Mavericks vs. Atlanta Hawks drew 468,000 viewers on NBA TV, the College basketball game of Stanford vs. Cal drew 193,000 viewers on FS1, the College basketball game of St. Joseph vs. St. Bonaventure drew 149,000 viewers on ESPN2, Love After Lockup drew 371,000 viewers on WETV, House Hunters drew 938,000 viewers on Home and Garden TV, and On Patrol Live drew 983,000 viewers on REELZ Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 176,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 47,000 viewers (up 147.4%), Females 18-34 had 9,000 viewers (down 55%), Males 35-49 had 76,000 viewers (down 2.6%), and Females 35-49 had 44,000 viewers (up 2.3%). Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership skew was 123,000 male viewer and 53,000 female viewers for a split of 69.9% in favor of males.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 16.6% in overall viewership and down 5.9% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 24.3% compared to the same week last year.

The January 27th episode of AEW Collision saw AEW suffer a very large decline in overall viewership and key demographic rankings and a large decline in key demographic ratings. That week’s show was notable for going head-to-head against WWE’s Royal Rumble 2024 event.

AEW drew 300,000 viewers and a 0.06 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 47th place.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reasons for AEW’s declines that week was due to the very stiff competition from WWE’s Royal Rumble 2024 event that night. Another reason reportedly was due to the large declines suffered from their younger male key demographic viewership and older key demographic viewership groups, which were down 65.6% and 50.7% respectively compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Los Angeles Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors drew 3,968,000 viewers on ABC, the Women’s College basketball game of Notre Dame vs. UCONN drew 779,000 viewers on FOX, the College basketball game of Kentucky vs. Arkansas drew 1,482,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of LSU vs. Alabama drew 764,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of UCLA vs. USC drew 195,000 viewers on ESPN2, the Mexican Liga MX soccer game of Monterrey vs. Club America drew 184,000 viewers on TUDN, and On Patrol Live drew 910,000 viewers on REELZ Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 83,000 viewers.
