Hikaru Shida vs. Athena for ROH Women’s Title and Mark Briscoe vs. Eddie Kingston for ROH World Title Announed for ROH Supercard of Honor 2024

Thursday’s Ring of Honor’s ROH TV show featured the first two matches officially announced for ROH Supercard of Honor 2024, which takes place on April 5th at The Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The first new match announced was a ROH Women’s World Championship match of Hikaru Shida vs. Athena (c).

This match was setup following a post-match promo segment involving Athena and Shida. After Athena’s victory over Aisha in a Proving Ground match, Athena gave a promo boasting about her being the forever champion and claimed the ROH Women’s locker room was afraid of her since they would rather go after a second place title. Athena then demanded more and better competition and stated that she was opening all the doors and offering an open challenge for her title at next month’s Supercard of Honor 2024 event. This led to Shida’s music playing and her coming out answering the challenge. Afterwards, it was announced that this match was made official for the show.

The second new match announced was a ROH World Championship match of Mark Briscoe vs. Eddie Kingston (c).

This match was setup following a video promo segment involving Kingston. During his promo, Kingston mentioned how Briscoe was supposed to get a chance at the ROH World title at last year’s show but was unable to due to his injury. Kingston then talked about Briscoe’s history with ROH and ROH being born in Philadelphia and invited Briscoe to bring his whole family to watch them display their art of wrestling in a match for his ROH World title. Afterwards, it was announced that this match was made official for the show.
