More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for February 28th

The February 28th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a slight decline in overall viewership and key demographic rankings.

AEW drew 822,000 viewers and a 0.29 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 3rd place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines this week was due to the declines from their younger key demographic viewership and older female key demographic viewership groups, which were down 5.1% and 7% respectively compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the gains from their older male key demographic viewership group, which was up 8.6% compared to last week’s show. Meltzer reported that while AEW drew a 0.33 key demographic rating for their overrun, the rest of the first quarter hour for the following show, Modern Family, only drew a 0.06 rating on TBS for comparisons.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the NBA game of New Orleans Pelicans vs. Indiana Pacers drew 1,064,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of Auburn vs. Tennessee drew 926,000 viewers on ESPN2, the College basketball game of Alabama vs. Ole Miss drew 542,000 viewers on ESPN2, the College basketball game of Seton Hall vs. Creighton drew 178,000 viewers on FS1, the NHL game of St. Louis Blues vs. Edmonton Oilers drew 281,000 viewers on TNT, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drew 1,135,000 viewers on BRAVO, Sistas Series drew 829,000 viewers on BET, and Challenge New Champion drew 341,000 viewers on MTV.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 381,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was 106,000 viewers (down 2.8%), Females 18-34 was 44,000 viewers (down 10.2%), Males 35-49 was 165,000 viewers (up 8.6%), and Females 35-49 was 66,000 viewers (down 7%). Meltzer reported that AEW’s male/female viewership split was 271,000 male viewers and 110,000 female viewers for a split of 71.1% in favor of males.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, none of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak quarter hour viewership was at 983,000 viewers for their first quarter while their quarter low was at 766,000 viewers for their seventh quarter.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 1.3% in overall viewership but up 7.6% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was up 25% compared to the same week last year.

More on AEW Rampage Viewership for February 23rd

The February 23rd episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a large increase in overall viewership and key demographic rankings and a slight increase in key demographic ratings. That week’s episode was notable for Rampage returning to its normal time slot following the prior week’s show being preempted due to TNT’s commitments with the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend.

AEW drew 364,000 viewers and a 0.11 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 18th place.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for AEW’s increases that week was due to the large gain from their overall key demographic viewership group, which was up 21.5% compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Milwaukee Bucks vs. Minnesota Timberwolves drew 1,203,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of Nevada vs. San Jose State drew 107,000 viewers on FS1, the College basketball game of Duquesne vs. Fordham drew 92,000 viewers on ESPN2, On Patrol Live drew 894,000 viewers on REELZ Channel, and House Hunters drew 716,000 viewers on Home & Garden TV.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 147,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s male/female viewership was 63.6% in favor of males.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 10.8% in overall viewership but up 5.8% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was equal compared to the same week last year.

More on AEW Collision Viewership for February 24th

The February 24th episode of AEW Collision saw AEW suffer a very large decline in overall viewership, a large decline in key demographic rankings, and a small decline in key demographic ratings. That week’s show was notable for Collision returning from its one week break following the prior week’s show being preempted due to TNT’s commitments with the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend.

AEW drew 385,000 viewers and a 0.11 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 19th place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for AEW’s declines that week was due to similar issues whenever they deal with competition from a WWE event on the same day despite not going head-to-head with WWE’s Elimination Chamber 2024 event that night. Another reason reportedly was due to the large decline from their key demographic viewership group, which was down 29.4% compared to two weeks ago’s show.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Boston Celtics vs. New York Knicks drew 2,221,000 viewers on ABC, the College basketball game of Villanova vs. UCONN drew 891,000 viewers on FOX, the College basketball game of Florida State vs. Clemson drew 341,000 viewers on The CW, the College basketball game of Texas A&M vs. Tennessee drew 961,000 viewers on ESPN, On Patrol Live drew 889,000 viewers on REELZ Channel, and Where Is Wendy Williams? drew 1,183,000 viewers on Lifetime.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 144,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was 20,000 viewers), Females 18-34 was 21,000 viewers, Males 35-49 was 75,000 viewers, and Females 35-49 was 27,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s male/female viewership split was 95,000 male viewers and 48,000 female viewers for a split of 66% in favor of males.
