Tenille Dashwood Comments on Future of Her In-Ring Career & Being Disappointed Over Her Last WWE Run and Release

A recent episode of the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast featured Tenille Dashwood as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Dashwood’s thoughts about her emotions when she was released from WWE for a second time in September of 2023.

“It was a rough day. I will say, since I returned to WWE, it was definitely a thought and goal of mine to be able to do a big show in my home country, and even attend in general on a tour. It was something I asked many times about when I was there. ‘When is the next tour?’ They hadn’t been for years because of the lack of travel and restrictions for years. Basically, I kept asking and thought it wasn’t happening. It was kind of a surprise when I saw that tweet that there was a show happening there. I still hadn’t been told by anyone. I thought, ‘Wow, what a dream to be able to wrestle there.’ Throughout the next few hours, we kept hearing people were getting released. I can’t say….we were basically expecting calls at that point. We were in that position where we thought we were going to get released, and then we did.”

Dashwood also gave her thoughts about the future of her wrestling career.

“I will say, I was a little disappointed with that last run, and a little upset with how things went. I do think I have a lot more to contribute and I had very high hopes when I returned, it just didn’t turn out the way that I would have liked. In saying that, we did see it as a positive, we just weren’t being used, so it was, ‘Okay, let’s go do the things we want.’ That has been very exciting. At this point, we’re focusing on that. We do have a tour in Australia that we’ve committed to. Some autograph signings and a match. Past that, we’re focusing on other things right now. I can’t imagine ever fully stepping away from wrestling. It’s been my dream since I was a little girl and it’s the only thing I really wanted to do. I’m so glad I’ve gone after it and had the career that I’ve had. It would be hard for me to say, ‘I’m done with wrestling.’ In that same instance, I’m not actively pursuing anything or don’t have a plan moving forward at this point.”

As noted before, former WWE talent Velveteen Dream, real name Patrick Clark, wrestled at an indie event for Dynasty Wrestling this past February. Dream’s surprise appearance and match at the event led to a lot of negative backlash towards the company over their booking of Dream. In a recent interview with Bucklebomb Entertainment, Dynasty promoter Chris Envy defended his decision to book Dream for the event. Envy stated “Very rarely do I get starstruck. Shawn Michaels, I was starstruck when I met him backstage, and Velveteen Dream. Huge star. The charisma, the presence. Talking to Patrick Clark, he is not that person at all. He is so quiet, soft spoken, and humble. He is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. We spent a couple hours together that day. He was so nice, one of the nicest people. We’re not friends, we exchange texts and posts, but I see him as a friend. He was so nice. He was one of the last people to leave. He was breaking down chairs. He said hello to everybody, he took pictures, class act all around.” Envy also claimed that Rita Chatterton was supportive of Dream’s appearance at the event. Envy stated “We got a lot of flack because we also had Rita Chatterton on the same show. She was in the news for other things as well. She was super supportive of Velveteen. Super supportive. She was like, ‘He’s such a nice guy.’ They were shoulder to shoulder, there was nothing uncomfortable about the situation. She told me to give him her number and have him reach out to her because he needs people who are going to support him. All these people that are coming at me, ‘you’re not family entertainment.’ It’s easy to say that, but if I had Vince McMahon on my next show, all those clowns would still be buying tickets.” Envy also claimed that other promoters have recently contacted him wanting to book Dream for their shows.
