AEW: Darby Allin Bus Accident Incident Update, New Authority Figure to be Revealed at Wed’s Dynamite Show, Cody Rhodes on Never Rooting Against AEW

Darby Allin Struck by Bus Accident Incident Update

As noted before, Darby Allin suffered a broken nose injury following him being struck in the face over a bus accident incident this past weekend in New York City, New York.

A recent episode of 99.9 KISW’s Daly Migs Show featured Allin as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Allin’s thoughts about his recent bus accident incident and the cause of the incident.

“So we’re in New York hanging out and he’s jaywalking. And I see this bus, it’s taking a right turn. And I’m like, ‘There’s no way they’re going to see Raymond at night walking. Like at all.’ Because like I said, he can’t even really walk that good. So as I’m like pushing him, ‘All right, hurry up. Hurry up. Go, go, there’s a bus coming.’ And then as the bus is taking a right, it might have been going like 8-10 miles [per hour], so it wasn’t anything like 30 miles an hour. But as I was pushing him out of the way, the side of the bus window — my faced bounced off of it. So you could say I saved Raymond Pettibon’s life.”

Aliin also stated that he did not get a medical checkup immediately after the accident but he got medical treatment later. Allin also stated that he only suffered a broken nose from the accident.

“Definitely the nose is broke. The only thing that got broke in the accident is my nose and my dignity.”

Tony Khan Announces New Authority Figure for AEW Shows to be Revealed at Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Show

As noted before, this past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida featured The Elite and Jack Perry attacking AEW CEO Tony Khan to close out the show. This past Saturday’s AEW Collision show featured the official announcement of Khan had suffered “multiple head and neck injuries” and will not be physically backstage at shows while he recovers.

TV Insider held a recent interview with Khan. One of the topics discussed included Khan revealing that a new authority figure will be announced at this Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show as his onsite replacement for shows while he recovers.

“We all have experience working outside the office. During the lockdown, we got used to meetings on Teams and Zoom. I’ll still be overseeing AEW and managing the show remotely. As for who will be the highest-ranking official onsite, stay tuned Wednesday. It will certainly be addressed this week on TBS. This power struggle that is happening in AEW.”

Cody Rhodes Comments on “I Could Never Root Against AEW”

A recent episode of the Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg podcast featured former AEW talent Cody Rhodes as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Rhodes’ thoughts about why he can never root against AEW.

“The narrative changed a lot about my contributions to AEW. That was very disappointing. There were some people, I’m not going to say their names, they know who they were, who kind of tried to put some propaganda out when I left. There’s a quote in the Young Bucks book about how I was last to the signing. Me, Matt, and Nick are as close as ever. So glad I had them in my career and my life. If we are being honest, AEW does not happen without me. It doesn’t. With that in mind, I could never root against them. It’s like having a kid and they go off to college and they get a DUI or they get in trouble. I’ll always have that in my heart for them.

It was certainly a wound that is more gaping and painful than people realize because now they look at the situation, ‘oh man, you’re on top of the world, you have everything.’ They don’t understand that I really gave everything I could. I did. I could never see a day where I was rooting against them. From a completely outside-of-me perspective, my relationship to AEW, my friends, the kids I signed, and the people from my school. From outside of that, it’s very important that they hang in there because if that were to go away, I don’t think anybody in the locker room has any clue of the financial repercussions that would have on the wrestling business. The trickle-down effect that would have on independent wrestling. We’ve created a really comfortable environment in sports entertainment for men and women to feed their families and to do well and be treated on a level that their global penetration ask for. I would hate to see that bubble burst. That’s a random fear I have when they’re down or if they’re up or whatever it may be. I would never root against them, in any case. That’s not always easy because random things said about you at press conferences, and that’s a big no no, you should never say me or my wife’s name, Tony should have told you that. I’ll never root against them, I really won’t.”
