AEW: Taz to Miss Wed’s AEW Dynamite Show Over Knee Treatment, Update on CMLL & Stardom’s Potential Involvement for Forbidden Door 2024, Tony Khan

Taz Announces His Absence for Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Show Over Knee Treatment Issues

As noted before, AEW announcer Taz revealed earlier this month that he will need to undergo knee and shoulder replacement surgeries for both of his knees and shoulders at some point in the future.

Taz provided an update earlier today on Twitter stating that he recently had treatment for his knee and as a result, traveling for tonight’s AEW Dynamite show in Edmonton was not possible for him. Taz also stated that he will return next week.

Update on CMLL & Stardom’s Potential Involvement for Forbidden Door 2024

This year’s AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling co-promoted Forbidden Door 2024 event reportedly is currently planned to involve more promotions, according to Fightful Select.

It was reported that Rocky Romero recently informed them that Stardom is “definitely in the mix” to be involved in this year’s event.

In regards to Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, Romero reportedly stated that CMLL is currently “very likely” to also be involved in this year’s event.

This would be the first time in Forbidden Door series history that AEW and NJPW would potentially hold a Forbidden Door event involving at least one other additional promotion.

Tony Khan Comments on Not Thinking It Would Be a “Smart Move” for Him to Wrestle

As noted before, the April 24th AEW Dynamite show at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida featured The Elite and Jack Perry attacking AEW CEO Tony Khan to close out the show. AEW announced that Khan had suffered “multiple head and neck injuries” and would not be able to travel to shows but would still run shows from a remote location, which did not last for long following the Young Bucks taking down his feed and taking over control of last week’s show.

A recent episode of ESPN 1530’s Cincy 360 with Tom Pike radio show featured AEW CEO Tony Khan as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Khan’s thoughts about the possibility of him getting into the ring and wrestle as part of his current storyline with The Elite.

“AEW is where the best wrestle. We mean that. That’s why I want to make sure the fans get the best matches and the best action. In this case, I’m not the best person to pay those people back. There are a lot of things I’m good at behind the scenes, but somebody else is going to have to go avenge what those guys did to not only me, but to Kenny Omega. I’m quite sure there are more capable wrestlers than I am who can inflict some of that punishment on the Young Bucks, Jack Perry, and Okada. I want to have great matches in AEW. After what happened to me last time, I don’t think I would be making a smart move.”
