Joe Doering Brain Cancer Battle Update

As noted before, Joe Doering has been out of action for TNA/Impact Wrestling since August of 2022 due to him currently battling brain cancer.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources recently provided an update on Doering’s current cancer battle.

Johnson reported that Doering is still fighting the “good fight” against his brain cancer but is currently dealing with the ramifications and effects of his cancer treatments. Those spoken to reportedly stated that TNA officials currently do not expect Doering to make his return to the company anytime soon, if ever.

AEW talent Lance Archer recently shared Doering’s GoFundMe fundraiser page on Twitter and asked for people to help financially assist Doering’s medical costs if they are able to do so.

Alex Shelley Comments on Future of The Motor City Machine Guns Wrestling Career

As noted before, The Motor City Machine Guns’ Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin’s contracts with TNA Wrestling expired at the end of this past March.

BodySlam.net and Irish Wrestling & Entertainment held a recent interview with Shelley. One of the topics discussed included Shelley’s thoughts about the future of the Motor City Machine Guns’ wrestling career and if they have any current dream matches in mind for their tag team career.

“I wouldn’t say it’s dream matches necessarily. It’s more so just kind of like, we’re happy to tackle anything new. Where we’re coming from in TNA, Sabin and I, we’ve done everything there is to do there. Everything there is to do. So it’s time for somebody else to step up and become the new Motor City Machine Guns for that company. For us, it’s time to be the Motor City Machine Guns somewhere else, wherever that may be. I just feel so fortunate to be able to wrestle for a living. Having the viewpoint that I have through my experiences, and certainly working in medical, physical medicine, all of this can be taken away so quickly, due to no fault of your own. You could be stopped at a stoplight, and you get rear-ended, and wrestling’s out the window. You might not be able to walk. I’ve seen so many people who would just kill to have a single solitary pro wrestling match. They train for years just to do that, and they never hit that litmus. So honestly, just to be in the situation that I’m in, I’m very, very grateful.”

Ric Flair Comments on He Likely Suffered Heart Attack During His Retirement Match

A recent episode of the JAXXON PODCAST featured WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling legend Ric Flair as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Flair revealing that his doctors had informed him in late 2023 that he very likely had suffered a heart attack within the past two years. Flair stated that he currently believes that this heart attack occurred during his retirement match in July of 2022.

“Oh god, I trained, I got in the best shape I’ve been in since I was 20 years old. Then I had a heart attack during the match. I had a heart attack in the match. I didn’t know myself until about six months ago. I go to the heart doctor every six months because I e got the pacemaker, and they put that on me when I was real sick, not because I had a problem with my heart, but they couldn’t get over the fact that my heart rate was so low. It was from all those hour-long matches, all their cardio. I used to do 500 free squats every day. 500 free squats, 500 pushups every day. Not every town you went to, not all of them had a gym. So my heart rate was always like 48, and they thought that it was so slow. So they put that on me. Then I went to get what’s called a calcium scan, which I never had before, because a couple guys died in our business of heart issues, so it kind of scared me, so I went. I blew a number on that, and the guy, they give you the stress test, shoot with the dye, put you on the treadmill, and it’s two days of three hours of testing. This is six months ago, and the guy takes me in. If you look at your heart like a round pie, there’s a piece of my heart right here that’s gone. The guy said, ‘You’ve had a heart attack in the last two years.’ I said, ‘It never hurt me.’ He said, ‘Have you passed out in the last two years?’ During my last match, I passed out three times. I thought it was because I was dehydrated. So I went in the locker room with Kid Rock and [Undertaker], I just drank two bottles of Gatorade and went back out to Kid Rock’s place all night long. But I had a heart attack. It didn’t hurt. I feel great.”
