Britt Baker reportedly was involved in a backstage incident at AEW’s Dynamite 250 show on July 17th in Little Rock, Arkansas, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Dave Meltzer reported that his sources stated that Baker was suspended for either one or two weeks and was fined by AEW’s disciplinary committee over a backstage incident she caused during the show. Meltzer reported that while details of this incident have been kept pretty quiet, it revolved around Baker had allegedly said something about MJF. Alicia Atout, MJF’s girlfriend and AEW backstage interviewer, heard it and told MJF about it leading to MJF confronting Baker over it.
AEW reportedly launched an internal investigation and interviewed people on July 24th over the issue. Meltzer reported that AEW’s disciplinary committee had recommended for Baker to be punished but it is currently not known if AEW CEO Tony Khan was involved in the investigation process but everyone involved tried to keep things under wraps.
Meltzer reported that most of those spoken to were sympathetic towards Baker over this situation.
WrestlePurists’ Ibou reported that his sources confirmed that Baker was involved in a backstage incident and that this took place only minutes after MJF and Will Ospreay’s nearly one hour long match for the AEW International Championship.
Fightful Select reported that their sources confirmed Meltzer’s report and provided additional details.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that Baker is believed to have spoken about her frustration with MJF backstage in the women’s locker room. Atout reportedly was in the room at the time of Baker’s comments and this situation was described to be a “he said, she said” type of situation between the two.
It was reported that besides MJF confronting Baker, Atout also did the same over Baker’s comments. Baker reportedly was not happy that Atout had told MJF about what she had said about him.
Will Ospreay reportedly had spoken with Baker at one point during the incident.
It was reported that MJF and Baker had an argument which led to MJF punching a wall before his match with Ospreay at the show.
It was also reported that MJF and Baker used to be close friends but had a falling out within the last year and those issues were unresolved prior to the backstage incident at AEW’s Dynamite 250 show.
It was also reported that while Baker had appeared on television since the incident, she was suspended after AEW’s internal investigation had concluded.
