As noted before, The Lucha Brothers’ Penta El Zero Miedo’s contract with AEW is currently set to expire between this August and September while Rey Fenix’s contract is currently set to expire this September. The Lucha Bros are currently expected to be joining WWE once their AEW contracts expire.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there is currently some concern by Penta and Fenix that AEW could extend Fenix’s contract by another year for injury time reasons to cover the time missed due to injuries.
Meltzer reported that Penta’s recent tweet denying the rumors and reports of the Lucha Bros leaving and stating “My present is in AEW” was in response to all of the recent talk and reports about him going to WWE and other details related to it.
Meltzer also reported that there had been rumors going around that Penta was going to visit NXT or getting a physical for WWE in Pittsburgh. Meltzer reporetd that Penta would not be able to do anything of the sort while still under an AEW contract and same as he obviously can’t have signed a deal with WWE until his AEW contract expires first.
