As noted before, The Lucha Brothers’ Penta El Zero Miedo’s contract with AEW had been originally set to expire between this past August and September while Rey Fenix’s contract had been originally set to expire this past September. Penta’s contract is currently set to expire next week while AEW recently added almost a full year’s worth of injury time to Fenix’s contract.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources confirmed that Penta’s contract expires at the end of this month.
In regards to Fenix, Meltzer reported that there has been no new updates regarding Fenix’s contract situation from his sources.
Meltzer reported that the last word was that AEW officials currently have no plans to let Fenix out of his contract early. AEW officials reportedly also currently do not have any creative plans for Fenix nor any plans to use him.
