AEW: Jake Roberts Feeling “Almost 100%” After Recent Hospital Stay, PCO Claims He Turned Down AEW Offer Three Times, Square Enix Composer Masayoshi Soken on Creation of Kenny Omega’s New Theme Song

Jake Roberts Comments on Feeling “Almost 100%” After Recent Hospital Stay

As noted before, WWE Hall of Famer and AEW manager Jake “The Snake” Roberts was hospitalized earlier this month due to pneumonia.

A recent episode of The Snake Pit podcast featured Roberts providing an update on his health and recovery from pneumonia.

“I think I’m finally kicking out from the flu. Feeling pretty good, feeling almost 100 percent. I’ve gotten a lot of well wishes and I do appreciate it.

Another thing is, apparently, I’m leaking blood somewhere in my gut, and that’s causing my iron levels to be low, so that’s not a good thing. Then, to top it off, I got a problem with my ticker. But by going in, I caught it, and we got to go have a couple of procedures done, and it’ll be all hunky dory then.”

PCO Claims He Turned Down AEW Offer Three Times

As noted before, This past Sunday’s The People vs. GCW event for Game Changer Wrestling in New York City, New York featured TNA Wrestling and indies talent PCO giving a shoot rant promo against TNA and attempted to destroy the TNA Digital Media Championship. PCO provided an update on Monday blaming his issues with TNA’s management for the cause of his incident.

In a recent response to a fan on Twitter, PCO claimed that he had turned down an offer from AEW three times and also claimed that AEW had planned for him to face Kenny Omega in the main event of their first Double or Nothing event in 2019.

Square Enix Sound Designer Masayoshi Soken Comments on Creation of Kenny Omega’s New Theme Song

As noted before, Kenny Omega made his official in-ring return from diverticulitis at New Japan Pro Wrestling and AEW’s co-promoted Wrestle Dynasty event earlier this month in Japan. Omega’s return match was notable for him debuting a new entrance theme song that was created by Final Fantasy 14 & 16 composer Masayoshi Soken and featured vocals by Jason Miller and Nobuo Uematsu.

ESPN held a recent interview with Soken. One of the topics discussed included Soken’s thoughts about his creation of a new entrance theme song for Omega.

“There’s a story behind each wrestler, regardless of whether they win or lose, and there is a story before and after their matches. In the ring, you see a magnificent battle, but in order for them to make it spectacular, they work incredibly hard behind the scenes, unseen by us. The more I research those different backgrounds, [the more] I am amazed at professional wrestlers. At the same time, just taking a look at one of their matches ringside with that knowledge in mind, the appeal is explosive, and something I cannot describe in words just bursts out.”

Soken also gave his thoughts about how he wanted to convey the excitement of chanting wrestler’s name in the theme song since he is a longtime wrestling fan.

“I’m sure any wrestling fan would understand, but it’s such an exciting experience to chant the wrestler’s name with their theme. As a wrestling fan, I wanted to incorporate that element somehow, and so I asked permission from Kenny to put that in.”
