As noted before, Malakai Black is currently believed to be finishing up with AEW and expected to leave the company.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that the current word going around backstage within AEW is that Black was gone from the company. Meltzer reported that this is something he has yet to confirm with his sources.
One source close to the situation reportedly stated that Black was gone but this has not been officially confirmed or denied by others within AEW.
Those spoken to also reportedly stated that they do not expect Black to return to AEW.
In regards to WWE, Meltzer reported that those spoken to within WWE stated that WWE officials have expected Black to return to their company once his contract with AEW expires. Meltzer reported that Black’s potential return to the company has been recently talked about within WWE’s creative team.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources also confirmed that Black is not expected to return to AEW.
In regards to Black’s contract status with AEW, Johnson reported that those spoken to stated that Black’s contract is currently set to expire sometime in February or March.
