AEW Collision Beach Break 2025 Notes: Sons of Texas vs. Hurt Syndicate for AEW Tag Titles and Nigel McGuinness & Daniel Garcia vs. FTR Matches Set for Double or Nothing 2025, Technical Issues Caused Show to End 30 Minutes Early, 5/21 Dynamite & 5/22 Collision Show Cards

Nigel McGuinness & Daniel Garcia vs. FTR Announced for AEW Double or Nothing 2025

Saturday’s taped AEW Collision Beach Break 2025 show featured the first of two new matches announced for the card of AEW Double or Nothing 2025.

This new match announced was a tag team match of Nigel McGuinness & Daniel Garcia vs. FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood).

This new match was setup over recent weeks shows over McGuiness and Garcia’s bad blood issues with FTR and Stokely Hathaway. During this past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Beach Break 2025 show, McGuiness offered his apology to Garcia for getting involved in his match last week and Garcia told him to keep it and suggested they team up together to take on FTR. This led to Stokely Hathaway coming out and after some banter, FTR attacked McGuinness and Garcia that ended when “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard ran out for the save.

During tonight’s show, McGuinness gave his official response accepting FTR’s challenge for a tag team match at Double or Nothing. Afterwards, it was announced that this match was made official for the show.


Sons of Texas vs. Hurt Syndicate for AEW Tag Titles Announced for AEW Double or Nothing 2025

Saturday’s taped AEW Collision Beach Break 2025 show also featured the second of two new matches announced for the card of AEW Double or Nothing 2025, which takes place on May 25th at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

This new match announced was an AEW World Tag Team Championship match of The Sons of Texas (Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara) vs. The Hurt Syndicate (Shelton Benjamin & Bobby Lashley) (c).

This new match was setup following The Sons of Texas defeating Cru (Lio Rush & Action Andretti) in a #1 Contender’s match.

This match did not air during the initially broadcast of tonight’s show and instead aired in full during the West Coast replay of the show. The reason for the issue was due to the feed for the show being abruptly cut 30 minutes early.

Technical Issues Cause AEW’s Collision Show to End 30 Minutes Early for Initial Airing

Saturday’s taped AEW Collision Beach Break 2025 show also featured a technical issue on TNT’s end causing the show to end 30 minutes early.

This issue occurred following the show going into a commercial break after the Steve “Mongo” McMichael tribute segment. When the show came back from its break, a text message displayed on the screen stating “This event has ended.” A ticker then the scrolled on the bottom of the screen that stated “Due to technical difficulties, AEW Collision is not airing tonight. Please check allelitewrestling.com for wrestling updates.”

Following the abrupt show ending, AEW CEO Tony Khan stated on Twitter that the incident was caused by studio transmission issues and that the full show will be available with the West Coast replay on TNT. Khan also stated that the full show will also be available to watch on MAX.

The matches that did not air during the initial broadcast were the AEW World Tag Team Championship #1 Contender match of The Sons of Texas (Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara) vs. Cru (Action Andretti & Lio Rush) and the Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Wheeler Yuta and show-closing brawl with Marina Shafir, Willow Nightingale, and angle with Kris Statlander.


Current Cards for Next Week’s AEW Dynamite & Collision Shows

AEW announced several new matches for the cards of next week’s AEW Dynamite show on May 21st at the Rio Rancho Events Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico and Collision show on May 22nd.

Next week’s Collision show will be taped on May 21st at the Rio Rancho Events Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico as part of that night’s tapings with Dynamite.

In regards to next week’s Dynamite show, the new matches and segments announced were:

  • Mina Shirakawa vs. Julia Hart
  • Will Ospreay and Hangman Adam Page to go face-to-face
  • Jamie Hayter and Mercedes Mone to go face-to-face
