Good Brothers Comments on Being Open to Returning to AEW or TNA But Wanted to Go Back to NJPW First

Fightful held a recent interview with the Good Brothers’ Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows.

One of the topics discussed included Anderson and Gallows’ thoughts about the Good Brothers interest in returning to AEW or TNA following their releases from WWE this past February.

Karl Anderson – “Yes.”

Doc Gallows – “Yeah, we’re an open book, and we have good relationships in both places. We wanted to be in New Japan first. We wanted to come here and do that. The book is open. Like we’ve told you many times in many years, there are a lot of conversations going on behind closed doors. We’ll see where it goes.”

Anderson and Gallows also gave their thoughts about their matches against Bullet Club War Dogs in NJPW and Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling and the serendipitous nature of a Bullet Club-centric storyline being the launching pad for their NJPW return and MLB debut.

Gallows – “It just lined up so good. It was a can’t-miss and had to be done. When you looked at when the 90 days were up and we’re free, and you see the next day is a New Japan pay-per-view in Los Angeles, a Good Brother town, the stars lined up perfectly, so you have to jump all over that. Scott D’Amore, we’ve had a great relationship for years, and he came in with the Maple Leaf Pro booking. What’s been the hardest for us has been building our schedule because the booking email is packed full. We have to go, ‘Hold on one second. We can’t commit to all that just yet.’ We’re almost overcommitted now, which is a beautiful thing, because we wanted to hit the ground running. We miss traveling, working, and doing all that. Here we fucking go.”

Anderson – “I’ve been home now for seven months and I’ve never been home that much my entire life. We’ve both had babies in the last year. Having a baby, being a sober brother, I have this newfound love for not having to travel. Now that I have started getting all these calls for all we have to do, here we go. We’re going to run this until the wheels fall off.”

Josh Alexander Comments on TNA Never Made Him a Contract Offer Before He Joined AEW

As noted before, Josh Alexander’s contract with TNA Wrestling expired this past February and recently signed an official contract with AEW.

A recent episode of the Casual Conversations with The Classic podcast featured Alexander as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Alexander’s thoughts about TNA never made him a contract offer to potentially keep him before he joined AEW.

“I had the meeting with TNA the year before, and they picked up my option. They were like, ‘We really want to keep you.’ ‘Okay, guys. I would be doing myself and my family a disservice by not seeing what else is out there from a financial and opportunity perspective. You guys come to the table with an offer. I love this place. I love the locker room.’ Part of me was like, ‘I don’t want to leave, but it doesn’t make sense to stay if it’s not in the same ballpark.’ They never made me an offer, ever. They took that and were like, ‘Oh, he’s leaving. Okay, even though he had conversations several times, ‘Just make me an offer, guys.’ They never did. Obviously, I went and talked with two other companies and I had to make my decision there. I chose AEW. It was the right fit for me and my family. Very happy to be there.”

As noted before, TNA recently issued a new edict banning “excessive blood” and blading from matches going forward in the company. In a recent episode of the My World with Jeff Jarrett podcast, co-host and former TNA co-owner Jeff Jarrett gave his thoughts about TNA’s new rules against excessive bloodletting and blading for matches. Jarrett stated “I think that is where the industry is at, with or without advertisers. The first thing that I thought would be okay, the WWE-TNA relationship just got taken to another level, if you will. I know they’ve got some new executive management there. Are they cleaning up for WWE? Are they cleaning it up for potential advertisers? Are they cleaning it up for shopping to try to get the best television deal? Regardless, I think it’s a positive move in that, gratuitous blood, I don’t think 30 years ago worked, so I certainly don’t think it works today.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

In a recent interview with WrestleTalk, Joe Hendry gave his thoughts about his new roles and responsibilities for TNA as their current World Champion. Hendry stated “It’s hugely rewarding. There was a period of time where a lot of colleagues were getting signed and I was kind of wondering if and when things would happen for me. But I was enjoying the process of what I was doing so much and I was so focused on getting the best reactions that I could from the fans, that all the opportunities came as soon as I shifted my focus into just giving the audience the best entertainment that I possibly could. But to now be here as TNA World Champion, it’s an amazing feeling and a responsibility that I enjoy, and my focus is just trying to deliver record business for TNA. I want people to look back and say, ‘Joe Hendry as World Champion, The Hardys as Tag Champs, that meant big business for TNA’. So I’m excited for the business that the entire locker room is doing for the company and everyone backstage and the fans as well. TNA’s a hot product right now and, yeah, onwards and upwards.

Former WWE and All Japan Pro Wrestling Ladies wrestler Leilani Kai announced on Twitter that she recently underwent a back procedure. Kai statedThis is the part of wrestling they don’t glamorize. It’s not a match or a photo op—it’s a back procedure. Not major, not minor… just part of my life I chose. Going to watch wrestling as soon as I wake up.
