Current Plans for Date & Event for Logan Paul vs. Jey Uso Match for WWE World Title

Logan Paul and Jey Uso have been engaged in a feud with each other in recent weeks shows after Paul called out Uso stating that he wanted his WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that WWE officials currently have scheduled for Paul to face off against Uso for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at their next Saturday Night’s Main Event show on May 24th at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida.

Fightful Select reported that their sources also confirmed that WWE’s current plans are for the Pual vs. Uso match to take place at their next Saturday Night’s Main Event show later this month.


More on NXT May 6, 2025 Viewership

The May 6th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT suffer a small decline in overall viewership and a slight decline in key demographic ratings.

NXT drew 652,000 viewers and a 0.14 key demographic rating on The CW.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for NXT’s declines this week was due to a combination of the stiff sports competition from the 2025 NBA Playoffs and the large decline from their overall key demographic viewership group, which was down 7% compared to last week’s show. Of NXT’s key demographic viewership decline, their younger key demographic viewership group was down 20% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the 2025 NBA Playoffs Game 2 of Indiana Pacers vs. Cleveland Cavaliers drew 3,444,000 viewers on TNT and 320,000 viewers on truTV, the 2025 NBA Playoffs Game 1 of Golden State Warriors vs. Minnesota Timberwolves drew 206,000 viewers on NBA TV, the 2025 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Game 1 of Carolina Hurricanes vs. Washington Capitals drew 1,334,000 viewers on ESPN, the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs Game 1 of Edmonton Oilers vs. Vegas Golden Knights drew 174,000 viewers on ESPN2, and the MLB game of San Diego Padres vs. New York Yankees drew 337,000 viewers on TBS, Curse of Oak Island drew 1,508,000 viewers on History Channel, 1000-LB Sisters drew 1,020,000 viewers on TLC, and Chopped drew 347,000 viewers on Food Network.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 187,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that NXT’s male/female viewership skew was 66.7% in favor of males.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was down 1.1% in overall viewership and down 25.5% in key demographic viewership.


WWE News & Notes

WWE reportedly has sold and distributed around 16,368 tickets for tonight’s Backlash 2025 event at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri as of Friday evening, according to WrestleTix.

Friday’s WWE SmackDown show in Dayton, Ohio featured SmackDown lead commentator Joe Tessitore announcing that Michael Cole and Wade Barrett will be the official announce team for Saturday’s WWE Backlash 2025 event in St. Louis.

Friday’s WWE SmackDown show in Dayton also featured current Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena being involved in a fan-related incident. During Cena’s promo segment in the main event of the show, a fan threw an empty beer bottle in the ring resulting in Cena pausing Mark Nash’s ring introduction for him. Cena picked up the beer bottle and mocked the crowd for it. A fan video from the show that was posted on Twitter revealed a person in the crowd throwing the bottle at Cena and getting kicked out by security right afterwards.

Friday’s WWE Speed show on Twitter featured Kelani Jordan defeating Wren Sinclair to advance to the next round of WWE’s newest #1 Contender’s tournament for the WWE Women’s Speed Championship. Jordan will be facing off against the winner of Maxxine Dupri/Ivy Nile in the Finals of WWE’s current tournament.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that Erick Rowan was seen working out at WWE’s Performance Center in Orlando, Florida this week.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson also reported that his sources stated that there has been a lot of great internal feedback to current TNA World Champion Joe Hendry’s appearances and work with WWE. Johnson reported that many within WWE currently feel that it is “pretty much considered a lock” that Hendry will end up signed by the company once his current contract with TNA expires.

As noted before, Warner Bros Discovery sold their previously shelved Coyote vs. Acme live action and animated film featuring John Cena to Ketchup Entertainment. Deadline reported that the film is currently heading to this month’s 2025 Cannes Market event for potential international sales deals.

WWE recently released two new videos to their WCW Vault channel on YouTube. The first new video was a WCW World Heavyweight Championship match of Kevin Nash vs. Diamond Dallas Page (c) from WCW Slamboree 1999. The second new video was the full March 15, 2000 episode of WCW Thunder.

WWE also recently released five new videos to their WWE Vault channel on YouTube. The first new video was a “John Cena’s “Bad, Bad Man” music video: From the WWE Vault.” The second new video was a WWE Tag Team, WWE Intercontinental, and WWE Championships Winner Takes All Tag Team match of The Two-Man Power Trip (Stone Cold Steve Austin (WWE) & Triple H (IC)) vs. The Brothers of Destruction (Kane & The Undertaker) (WWE Tag Team) from WWE Backlash 2001. The third new video was a “John Cena’s live rap performance on Raw” from the July 25, 2005 episode of WWE RAW. The fourth new video was a “WWE Backlash footage we found in the WWE Vault.” The fifth new video was the full “The rise of Evolution” episode of WWE Ruthless Aggression.

WWE also recently released three new videos to their NXT Vault channel on YouTube. The first new video was the full March 4, 2025 episode of WWE NXT. The second new video was the full March 11, 2015 episode of WWE NXT. The third new video was a NXT Women’s Championship match of Jordynne Grace vs. Roxanne Perez (c) from NXT Battleground 2024.
