WWE: Hulk Hogan on Him Getting Booed at WWE Shows & Getting Different Reaction from Media Over It, Pat McAfee on His Match with Gunther at Backlash 2025, WWE Evolution 2 Plans Update

Hulk Hogan Comments on “The Rock Or John Cena Can Get Booed, But When I Get Booed, There’s A Different Reaction From The Media”

A recent episode of The Ariel Helwani Show featured Hulk Hogan as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Hogan’s thoughts about fans booing him at WWE’s RAW premiere show on Netflix and why he gets treated differently from the media over him getting booed at WWE shows.

“Well, you know, they’re still nipping at my heels. I can go out there and get booed. That was the last time I was in LA, I was Hollywood Hogan with a black beard and doing the bad guy thing. I can go out there and get booed in LA or The Rock can get booed in LA or John Cena gets booed in LA. When I get booed, there’s a whole different reaction media wise. For some reason, I’ve laid some type of groundwork that people are still interested in what I’m doing. For those that are on the team and that are riding with the train to the station, that’s great. For those that are haters and that still have a problem with me, there’s nothing I can do to fix that except keep proving by my actions that I’m still in the game, I’m still pushing hard. I took a lot of time off because I had like 25 surgeries and I was down for a long time. I’ve always loved the hunt, I’ve always loved to get back in the game, but it’s always been that way with me because my whole career, I had that top spot no matter what it was, even through the 80s, it was the fastest draw. During the 80s, it was a situation where everybody was knocking me, everybody was trying to knock me off that top spot. I’ll trade that for not being on the bottom of the card, if you know what I’m saying, or being on the bottom of the pile of life. For me, it’s just part of the territory. It’s like, you know, when you get booed and you get 3.2 billion engagements and you rock that whole world in LA with how much interaction there was on the internet, I’ll take it.”

In response to comments from host Helwani about if fans were just booing his character for the reason why they booed him at the RAW Netflix premiere show, Hogan responded stating:

“No, no, no, no, all the above. All of the above. There are certain people that boo the character, there are certain WWE superstars that had an opinion and advice for me, but I’d like to ask those same guys when I go to New York or Chicago and the people cheer out of the rooftops. I’d like to know what their advice is then and what their opinion is. It’s a double edged sword with me and it’s always been that way. It’s a part of the character, it’s part of me personally, it’s part of my professional life and it’s part of my personal life. It’s all of the above. At the end of the day, I’m just like an old scarred up seal with a bunch of scars on me and I’m really relatable to most normal people because a lot of people have been through the stuff I have professionally. A lot of people have made the same — not the same mistakes, but have personally made mistakes and I’m still relatable to so many people. If they boo me, fine. If they’re on the team lead, that’s great too. Not hating on anybody, brother. I’m still just here. I’m still moving forward.”

Pat McAfee Comments on His Match with Gunther at WWE Backlash 2025

A recent episode of The Pat McAfee Show featured co-host Pat McAfee giving his thoughts about his match with Gunther at this past Saturday’s WWE Backlash 2025 event in St. Louis, Missouri and current his health status following the match.

“The body is a little battered and bruised. Me and Gunther had a moment in time where I believe I showcased to him something that he showed a little respect. This was a big moment, taking the shirt off. Everybody knows Gunther has a powerful [chop]. I showed him I wasn’t scared to eat one of those if need be. We could certainly get into a fist fight.

We fought. I don’t know how many people were in the crowd, I heard 16 or 17 thousand. I want to say thank you to all of them. This went a lot longer than I thought it was going to be. I was planning on going in like Mike Tyson, early knockout, try to win this thing. It went a lot longer than I thought it was going to go. Landed some kicks. I feel good about the strength of my leg. My entire chest was the color of a tomato for a good reason. He was beating me down. Him kicking out at one from my punt was certainly something. ‘I don’t know what else to give this guy.’

At the end, Gunther showed a little bit of respect, an acknowledgment, I think. I feel pretty proud of what I did for not only myself, Michael Cole, but the good of society as well. Sometimes you have to stick up to the big ol’ bully. To Gunther’s credit, him giving me the head nod at the end, I think he acknowledged what happened in there. I think he was waiting until it was on camera to be able to do that. If you saw him talking to the ref, I think he was asking the ref, ‘I would like people to see this and know this.’ What an honor it was to get into the ring once again and be part of Backlash and fight [Gunther]. He might be in GOAT conversations when it’s all said and done. Michael Cole, I’m sorry I couldn’t get us the win. At least I think the guy who was bullying your old ass around knows we’re willing to fight if we have to.

I think the first chop popped both of my eardums, the sound. I’m surprised my nose didn’t pop. It was startling, when that thing hits you for the first time. Through the TV you can feel it when he does that. From the commentary table, you can see it, hear it, and you think you can feel it. I was coming off the ropes to give him a big one, and what I realized was, ‘Wow, I’m pretty exposed here.’ He took advantage. He certainly did. Chest burning, obviously. Neck hurting from holding my head up whenever I was getting my ass beat. Back is pretty sore. Hips are not good either. Knees, both of them, problematic. [The powerbomb] hurt too. That one will wake you up a little bit and then make you dead.”
