Lyra Valkyria Comments on Meaning of Her Bird-Style Entrance in WWE

A recent episode of the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast featured current WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Valkyria’s thoughts about the meaning of her bird-style entrance gear and routine for her matches.

So on the Independents I wrestled as Valkyrie. That’s not Marvel character-based, not bird-based. It’s actually from my favorite book, which is written by an Irish author. I discovered it when I was 12 years old. The main character was 12, living in Dublin, starts this whole new secret life, she has to take on a name to start this new life, and she calls herself Valkyrie. So I started that, and until I went to WWE, I never used the kind of imagery that’s associated with the Valkyrie at all. So then I was like okay, well I should probably use that. So I got the kind of Valkyrie-looking gear for NXT UK, and then when I was moving across, I had to change my name, and I actually contacted the author of that book. So his name’s Derek Landy, and he’s Irish, and he suggested this character called the Morrigan. I was actually a little bit familiar with it. It’s like the Irish Valkyrie from Irish mythology. Finn Balor and his demon character also drew from Irish mythology and stuff. The Morrigan basically transforms into a raven or crow and hovers over the battlefield and decides who’s going to win a battle. So I was like, that’s really cool. I went down that rabbit hole, and it’s just a very cool female warrior character who transforms into a raven. I just thought that was very cool. It was related to the Valkyrie, so it’s still tied to my book and my favorite stuff, and I love mythologies. So yeah, that’s where it all comes from.”

Femi stated “I mean, I’m looking forward tobeating up Stephanie’s boyfriend for a little bit. But I have a one-on-one match with Myles Borne. He’s worked his way up the ranks and, yeah. He’s won a couple matches to earn an opportunity for the NXT Championship, which I respect. But at the end of the day, this is not a Disney movie. You don’t get the happy ending. As noted before, next year’s WWE WrestleMania 42 event will no longer be taking place in New Orleans, Louisiana and is currently expected to now be taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada for the second year in a row for a WrestleMania event. Former WWE personality Jonathan Coachman recent responded on Twitter criticizing WWE and TKO’s decision to pull WrestleMania 42 out of New Orleans for purely greedy monetary reasons. Coachman statedTKO does it again. Looking to collect every last dime they can get their hands now they will even back out of an announcement of their biggest event due to a bigger check being put on the table. Can you imagine the NFL announcing the Super Bowl and saying sorry San Diego we will give you the pro bowl and a Super Bowl to be named later? One head scratching move after another that comes back to $$$$ being at the heart of every single decision.

In a recent interview with The Power Talk podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Tatanka stated that WWE has already talked to him regarding his sons potential future pro wrestling careers. Tatanka stated “My son is a big, big elite wrestler. He’s only in the ninth grade. He’s a two-time national champion, meaning he’s the best, one of the best in the entire United States. So big things are happening there. I have another son. So I have two sons, both young, that can be a Native American tag team at WWE. WWE has already talked to me about them. They’re very aware about them. They’re keeping their radar on them.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

In a recent interview with Good Morning Football, The Miz gave his thoughts about Seth Rollins being the greatest in-ring technician he has ever wrestled during his wrestling career. The Miz stated “Seth is the greatest in-ring technician I have ever wrestled in my entire career. It’s not even close. He is unbelievably talented physically, but people don’t understand the mental capacity it takes to be a top-caliber main event superstar. A lot of people call John Cena the greatest of all time, I think, when Seth Rollins is done in WWE and pro wrestling, we’ll be talking about his name as the greatest of all time because mentally, physically, he has all the gifts to become that person. People call Shawn Michaels ‘Mr. WrestleMania,’ if you watched the main event this year on Saturday in Vegas, you would’ve saw Mr. Main Event in that ring in Seth Freakin’ Rollins.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
