WWE’s Current Plans for Cody Rhodes’ Return & Backstage Update on Rhodes’ Heel Turn Plans Status

Cody Rhodes has been absent from WWE since his loss to John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship at this past April’s WrestleMania 41 Night 2 event.

WWE is currently advertising Rhodes to make an appearance at Friday’s WWE SmackDown show in Greensboro, North Carolina.

WrestleVotes Radio reported in a recent episode of Sportskeeda’s WrestleBinge podcast that their sources stated that Rhodes is currently expected to be in Los Angeles for WWE’s Money in the Bank 2025 event on June 7th.

In regards to WWE’s potential plans for a future heel turn for Rhodes, Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that outside of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s recent comments, there are currently no plans within WWE for Rhodes to turn heel any time soon.

It was reported that “people around Rhodes” were against the pitch when it was first brought up due to WWE’s strong gates and merchandise and ticket numbers with Rhodes as a babyface. Those same people reportedly were also against the idea due to Rhodes was still getting big babyface reactions from crowds.

It was also reported that as of this past April’s WrestleMania 41 event, WWE officials had plans in place for Rhodes to be a babyface star throughout the rest of 2025.
