Lawsuit Filed Against Jon Moxley & AEW Over Claims of Civil Assault, Battery, & Negligence from 2023 AEW Dynamite Show Incident

A new lawsuit was recently filed against Jon Moxley and AEW by a member of AEW’s production team over an incident in 2023.

Sports Illustated’s Jon Alba reported that a lawsuit was filed on May 30th before the Wayne County Circuit Court by a person named Christopher Dispensa based on recent court records.

In the filing, Dispensa stated that he was contracted to work on the AEW production team for the May 10, 2023 AEW Dynamite show at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. This show featured Moxley facing off against Kenny Omega in a Steel Cage match. Dispensa stated that he was instructed to hand a screwdriver to Moxley during the match but claims that Moxley’s “unexpectedly deviated from the planned script by placing his hands on Plaintiff’s face and shoulder and violently shoving Plaintiff to the ground.”

Dispensa stated that he suffered extensive injuries and required cervical spine surgery, shoulder surgery, and additional medical treatment due to Moxley’s actions.

In the filing, Dispensa stated that he worked as an independent contractor that night and is not an employee of AEW.

Dispensa is currently claiming that Moxley committed civil assault and battery and AEW committed general negligence against him.

Dispensa is currently seeking a jury trial to determine a fair judgement in his favor for monetary damages in excess of $25,000.

The incident in question takes place at the 3-minute 54-second mark of AEW’s video of the match they had posted on their official YouTube channel.
