R-Truth Departing from WWE

R-Truth announced earlier today on Twitter that he was released from WWE and thanked the company and his fans

“Im sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE. I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride, Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years. Thank you.”

Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that his sources clarified that R-Truth’s departure was not due to him being actually released but instead WWE officials informing him that his contract will not be renewed.

Prior to his announcement, R-Truth had been with WWE since 2008 following a prior stint with the company from 1999 to 2001. R-Truth last wrestled for WWE on the May 30th WWE SmackDown show in a losing effort to JC Mateo. R-Truth also had wrestled against John Cena as part of Cena’s retirement tour on the May 24th WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event show.
